Hmmm, is the Big Ten big in Mississippi? I don’t think so.

Well, at least you aren’t uncomfortable quoting dubious statistics...

Nope, but it sure does water down the competition. Some team will win the big prize, I presume.

I had a family member who was a PSU alum.

He was very unhappy with what PSU had become.

but i-55 north (southbound lane) between meadowbrook and lakeland is in jackson, mississippi.

surely you aren’t implying jackson mississippi isn’t in mississippi?

That was my suspicion, but I ain’t a doc. :-)

I am, however, all for checking out whether or not there’s something squirrely going on with WuFlu, myocarditis, and college age football players.

Trust but verify.

Certainly less dubious than the fly-by-night Chicom flu studies:

A study published in 2018 by researchers at the VA-BU-CLF Brain Bank found that 190 of 202 football players (94 percent) studied who played in college or the NFL have been diagnosed with CTE. Among players who played in college but did not play professionally, CTE was diagnosed in 86 percent (57 of 66).

I think you missed my point. People in Mississippi may be football fans, but they don’t care about the Big Ten. I’m questioning how effective this message is going to be.

then I apologize!

They put all kinds of whacky stuff up in MS. one was something to the effect that the hospitality state would give you a hospitality ticket for speeding.

I wish i could edit - I think the point for them is making something a bit off the wall likely improves retention/attention to it. I remember some of them so there is something to that, i guess. I don’t want a hospitality ticket from the highway patrol!

What’s a hospitality ticket? Sounds like an oxymoron.

Are the schools assuming that not playing football will decrease the player’s likelihood of catching the Chinese virus?

Is there a study that compares the differences in the rates or infection/early detection/etc...between athletes and non-athletes on campus?

I'm not a Mississippian, but I'm guessing a sign saying, "You should do XYZ, because people in New York City do it," is not going to be effective.

Of course, a sign saying, "You should do XYZ, because people in Mississippi do it," isn't going to work either. For that matter, a sign saying, "You should do XYZ, because people in New Jersey do it," won't work either.

right, you come in preachin what some 212 does so mississippi should, probably still not going to go over well. midwest? a lot different.

but college football in general is big, and the big10 issue got some press. and maybe sommeone in highway dept has a quote of new catchy things to put up however so often!

my working theory on the hospitality ticket for speeding involves avoiding getting one!

H1N1 caused similar effects. Seasonal Flu, and even some severe colds can also cause Myocarditis in some cases.

Then let the athletes seek their own 2nd opinion and make up their own mind.

it is inflammation not infection. I imagine the vast majority is asymptomatic and goes away with doing nothing. If it would be severe enough to decrease the hearts pumping ability there would me medication to treat the heart failure. some forms of damage would improve others might cause permanent damage . I doubt this is a common thing or we would be seeing more of it at this point
