A friend in Montana near Bozeman tells the story of a neighbor who got literally pinned down by a moose...for an hour...tried to get up, it kicked him down again...lucky he survived.

I don’t have hard statistics but personally I’ve known more people attacked by Moose than bears. We don’t have a lot of Grizz in Utah, though. Mostly black bears which are far less aggressive.

Some of our Motley Crew heading for Wisconsin & then Michigan Black Bear season opener, earlier this week. Lakota, Osage, Coola and Cheyenne.
Seneca and Oneida.
Elder Statesman and Grand Nite Champion, Lakota. "I've seen a FEW battles in my day..." Still raring to go at 10 years. ❤

Nothing will happen unless a brown bear attacks a black. Then all hell breaks out.

Where in the hell is the Glades Guru* when he’s needed for a snippy comment? I suspect it may have been something along the lines of “When firearms speak, beasts listen”.
Except for the endless tribe of “Park Persons” doing good, a solution might remind our friends the bears that we are a bit higher on the evolutionary scale. A canister of bear spray fired from a distance? Face full of rock salt, sand, or bird shot fired from a 10 gauge (or, better yet, 2 gauge) punt gun?

Grizzlies like most large predators are very inefficient killers.
Their prey is often started to be eaten while still alive.
Only humans worry about being humane.
It is not called grizsmane wolfmane lionmane
