I hope we citizens do open fire. First on the criminals released from prison, then on the rat politicians who release the criminals from prison.
This sounds like a cheesy Batman plot wherein the Joker gets elected mayor and releases all the criminals from Gotham Jail.

When Paul the Apostle of Christ was traveling in a city there was a ruler who let the criminals out of prison to cause havoc. I’ll search my Bible notes and keep them handy for future reference. Because this tactic has been used by evil rulers for millennia.
