That sounds like the confectionery someone hated but nonetheless scarfed down every last crumb.

Another show I will never be watching.....

Interesting to me that none of the reviews I’ve seen have mentioned that people with obvious Negro heritage have been cast in the roles of English people.
I guess if they can get away with that “Hamilton” nonsense, they can get away with anything.

I've seen only the Netflix "teaser," and quite naturally assumed - due to the preponderance of Black people in the story - that this was science-fiction of the type exemplified by "Game of Thrones."

Any explanation - no matter how half-baked - would be preferable to none whatsoever.

Started to watch it. It is really really bad.
So bad it was laughable.
Save yourself some time and keep your IQ where it is.

I think it was something about “showing how wonderful we are,” but I don’t quite remember.

Will not watch. Judging by the preview pictures, this production suffers from the Barry and Big Mike diversity mandate at Netflix, to the point of laughable historical inaccuracy.

Sounds like they pulled it out of their *ss.
Have nothing against actors of one ethnicity playing characters of another - perhaps that one Black actor was simply the best they could find for the role.
But is there any "in-universe" acknowledgement of their Blackness? I would hope not.

The author of the series Julia Quinn has praised the casting decision, telling People magazine that “it's incredibly important”. She also explained that the show’s inclusion of Queen Charlotte - a real historical figure believed to have had “significant African ancestry” - was a powerful move that could help reimagine what the Regency period could have looked like. "What if this was actually recognized and accepted at the time? What if she had used her position to elevate people of color to positions of power? What would society look like then?"So, she's admitting that it's science-fiction - on the level of "Man in the High Castle."
Okay, if you like that sort of thing...
