Agree. Of course the Biden administration is only interested in the metro areas. One wonders what happens to the range when the a/c, heaters, radios, etc., are turned on. And, I understand winter weather isn’t good for range either.
“if you are interested in EVs (imho). “
We all have to be interested in them.
They are being forced upon us tight now
A/C isn’t as bad of a drain as the heater. Weather is a factor also. If it rains or snows, there is more tire resistance. Speed is also a factor. Here is a link to what speed does to the range.
Winter time is the worst. Losses of 50% range is possible when it is sub zero F. If you leave it plugged in while not driving, the losses aren’t so bad. Also the battery won’t charge until it is warm enough to accept a charge. That also applies to brake regeneration
So EV make good commuter cars for the democrats living in big cities. Got it.
At least for the time being that is my take on it. I live in the midwest. There are plenty of Tesla superchargers near interstates routes, but not many of them are the latest fast charging stations. I live in Champaign, Illinois at the cross roads of I74 and I57. I've never seen more than 4 cars at the 8 stall Tesla supercharging station ever.
GM is making a big deal about transitioning to their EV line up. One of the most active Cadillac salesman has told us that many of his customers have told him they will switch brands before they buy an EV.
One thing you have to be aware of is how dedicated a dealership will be able to fix an out of warranty ICE vehicle if they are all in on EV’s. My parents have a popular European luxury car. There are currently no technicians available in their metro area to resolve major problems because the dealership was sold. Workers were either fired or took off for greener pastures.
