Seriously?
“AS OF the 4th of July, apparently.”
Glad someone else noticed.
“I had no idea there were so many drownings in the Great Lakes.”
Fake news.
Great Lakes are prone to rip currents and sudden blowups of rough waters. They are not oceans but large enough for all the hazards of open water to beware. Took a ferry across Lake Michigan, quite a stretch where there was no sight of land either behind us or before us. Lake bottoms are littered with shipwrecks, some of considerable size like the great ore carrying lakers.
The lakes, it is said, never gives up their dead...
Steel boats, iron men, 34 men down on the Robert McKenzie.
“Either number seems like a lot. On a holiday (or any) weekend, I suspect alcohol involvement.”
Perhaps it is not true?
“That’s a large number of people drowning in one day.”
Too many to believe.

It can drop off very quickly, one minute the water is up to your knees, another step and it is over your head. If you can’t swim you are screwed.
“It’s at the source.
A local Detroit television news site.
NBC affiliate.”
Then put up a link since their link goes right back to them.

Don’t worry about us, I can break the ice and swim just fine.
I didn’t catch that until now.
Yeah, it does do a circle.
Not sure why.
Lots of second or third string employees on the job nowadays.

34 more delta variant deaths.
They should have been wearing floatation mask……….

I was on lake Erie all last week. More than once thoughts of the Edmund Fitzgerald entered my head. Can get ugly quick, big rollers from the west 25mph from the south duringmy trip. Big lumpy mogals to run through.
