Pi comes from the first letter in the Greek word for perimeter or periphery, since pi is the length of the perimeter of a circle with radius one.
I have been waiting for this as it makes any calculation related to a circle much more accurate.

Pi cannot be expressed as any fraction.
Any fraction eventually infinitely repeats or terminates when expressed as a decimal. Pi does neither (the definition of irrational number).
Pi is also never the solution of any equation using a finite amount of terms with rational coefficients (the definition of a transcendental number).
