Not necessarily. Kamala only gets to nominate a new VP. The nominee has to get confirmed by a majority of both Houses, and the Dems don't have a Senate Majority.
That would be hw it worked if both the president and vp were gone.
What happened with Ford? IIRC he “nominated” Rockefeller and he was confirmed by the House and/or the Senate.

2. Nixon names Ford as replacement; he is confirmed
3. Nixon makes deal with Ford for pardon and resigns
4. Ford names Rockefeller as VP and he is confirmed

If Harris takes over and dies before a new VP is confirmed, Pelosi would be in charge--but as "Acting President." Would she have the power to name a new VP? I think there is some ambiguity in the Constitution.
Harris has a problem like Biden had. She can't pick a straight White male, and she isn't going to pick an African-American. So that leaves a White woman or a gay guy: Warren, Gillibrand, Klobuchar, Buttigieg or maybe somebody else.
I don’t think Kamala would pick Hillary. She doesn’t have a death wish.

Harris isn’t African-American. Her father is a mixed-race Jamaican so she has a little African ancestry, but she has no connection to the history of African Americans.
