Delloite and WSJ was not glorifying China in the article. The WSJ for the last few years have been telling corporations they need to watch and be careful investing in china, if already there to divest from china and go elsewhere or they will get burnt real fast.
Yeah, it's pretty common for people to avoid solutions that might entail a bit of self-control, and think that they'll be okay just with prescribed medications and experimental vaccines.
20 years ago when I was in my mid-40s, I was in the "Obese" range on BMI charts. High blood pressure. Cholesterol levels that the doctor told me couldn't be managed just by diet. Now, I bounce around just above and below the lowest levels of "Overweight" on the charts. My blood pressure is generally around 110/65. I have no health problems and take no medications. It takes some self-control to keep from going back to where I was before, but it's worth it.
Good luck on the weight loss. If you stick with it, I'd expect you'll be surprised by how much better you feel.

I.e. if they’re just going to reverse engineer & steal the technology, they’re not “leaders” because they’re not inventing it (and due to rote memorization etc. cannot think out of the box as well as some others).

The chinese had more new patents granted last year than all other countries in the world combined including the US.
