Sundowner’s and possibly delirium often seem to get worse:
When we stop daylight savings time and it gets dark earlier and quicker. Glad you mentioned that.
Around 4 PM it gets dark at Christmas time here in the Boston area.
However in June and July, it doesn't get dark until about 8:30 PM.
Us caretakers of a demented person pick up on that quickly. -Tom

It is very different from just getting tired. mental status deteriorates rapidly in the late afternoon and can be quite frightening to see for those not used to it

We have too. We found that melatonin has really helped.

I’m 73 years old and don’t have dementia or Alzheimer’s. I do suffer with anxiety for which I stake medication. But I think I have the opposite of Sundowners. My problems are the worst in the morning and subside by late afternoon and evening. I just want to sit on my sofa and find it hard to do routine tasks and even some of my hobbies.
