In addition to the Wright Flyer “flying” the wrong direction, the overall graphic design of the plate smacks of a committee effort. If the plate is supposed to honor the Wright Brother’s first aircraft, the plane itself should be the focus of the design. Instead you have fields of wheat, building, a tree, a dog, and a kid on a tree swing. Why??

It’s the streamer that looks like it is being “towed” by the plane which indicates the wrong direction. Not to mention the metaphor that the plane should be emerging from the stylized Ohio birthplace in the top middle.

Of course the actual plane was incapable of towing anything and it was cartoned and traveled by train from Ohio to Kitty Hawk North Carolina for its maiden flight, so the whole thing is kind of non-sensical.
