“They live like ants in a anthill, they have a homogeneous society with no giant urban black violent crime-ridden underclass. They control immigration. They have a work ethic.”
Some of that sounds good, huh?
“Plus Tokyo is once of the nicest, safest big cities in the world.”
I was there for a business trip some years ago and the hotel we stayed in that night was across the street from a train station. While waiting for my team I was looking down watching people going in and out of the train station when I was struck with the realization as I watched kids put their bikes on the racks outside that none of them were locking their bikes. Everyone just dropped their bike on the rack an went.
I was amazed to see that in a big city when I had a locked bike stolen from a closed, secured corporate campus.
“... kids can take the trains to school unaccompanied and unafraid...”
But when I was a lad in California, I was only a little older, maybe 10 or 11 and I’d ride the Pacific Electric by myself from Long Beach to Los Angeles. Not as clean as Tokyo, but pretty much as safe. But that was a very long time ago.
Tokyo’s nice.
But so is Maine.
In Phoenix, they build a light train from Mesa, through Tempe to North Phoenix. Apparently, it was taken over by the homeless, who do not pay anything, and are just going back and forth in it. It is a great place for them to cool down in Summer or Warm up in Winter.
I would say, in many places around the world, they would be evicted or at lest asked for fare.
Only in America!
Compared to WHAT?
An apartment on the moon?
