Not to mention that Glen played guitar on just about every Rock ‘n Roll hit recorded in Los Angeles in the 1960s as part of the Wrecking Crew of studio musicians. You can hear his guitar licks on the Beach Boys “Help Me Rhonda.”

Glen was great, but Vince Gill was right there with him.

Always loved the proto-metal solo on ā€œJust Dropped In.ā€

There were and are still a lot of good musicians out there that weren’t in the right place/right time like Dr. John sang about.

My ex-brother in law was a free finger guitar and banjo player that was contracted by a few companies like Gibson to travel and display their guitars. He was a two time world champion and he played a few types of music. But since this thread is about this, thought you picker people might like a change of style like this. His name is Stephen Michael King:

My new favorite is Konstantin Kovachev, the new lead guitarist with Russian rockers Leonid and Friends.

Their original lead, Sergey Kashirin was an absolute genius on guitar. He recently left the band to concentrate on movie score compositions and Konstantin took over.

He’s apparently considered one of the best ever Russian guitarists and was a long-time member of a very well-known Russian folk rock band.

There’s not much online presence as he joined L&F just before they started a US tour, but in concert this guy is incredible.

I wonder if that 1990 episode of Hee Haw is the same one that also featured an Alan Jackson appearance. I’ve been watching Hee Haw on Circle TV and it is still fun to watch with the acts and the girls, lol.

After he stopped drinking Alice Cooper has led a life we all should aspire to

A Christian life and good loyal friend even to those who share little in common with him

Rarely a harsh public word

Plus he fostered two of Rocks best and lesser known guitar players

Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner.....billion dollar babies and WTMN

both are truly showcased on Lou Reed Rock and Roll animal....as good as rock guitar gets

On Glen....a diff style altogether though Iā€™m sure he could play rock like Vince Gil can when he wants

Glen and Chet and Roy.....Clark I know but donā€™t forget Buchanan ...Lee Roy Parnell...Keith urban and paisley...they can play

Who started country players....a little woman started a whole new way of strumming and picking ...thumb melody on the old L5....70 years ago now

Merle Travis and Hank Garland ....incredible

And a host of session guys in the 11 county metro Nashville area nobody knows

Some maybe playing in your church on sundays

Put em in an outdoor arena with a good drum kit and bass player and they can play like Clapton in his Cream halcyon days

Iā€™m not joking....I live here and see this all the time

I visit someone and notice a rack of nice guitars.....teles mostly....it is Nashville but maybe the Les Paul or SG Is off to the side

Heā€™s a session player or tours with Eric....Church not Clapton

With some prodding youā€™re listening to Billy Gibbons more or less picking on the cum

Itā€™s an amazing. Place to live ...talent everywhere..

The best cover band I’ve ever seen on YouTube is “Foxes & Fossils”. I think they are out of Atlanta. A father, daughter & several of his & her friends.

Really talented, but unknown outside of the internet.

“Any Chet Atkins influence there?”

Must be talking to a musician here. I can guess Chet Atkins, possibly Wes Montgomery, and possibly some B. B. King in there. All of their riffs were used for instruction at higher education and Steve was a graduate of Grove.

We were civil as he was strongly committed to a middle eastern religion I didn’t appreciate. He was having severe heart problems last time I heard of him.

I played in jazz ensemble in college with Terry Collins, both reeds among other things, back in the early seventies, and on the bus I watched Terry play Classical Gas on a 12 string playing all the parts, rhythm, and horns. Last I was told of him he was writing and doing background vocals for Cold Blood. His twin sister Sherri was with him.

You stay in the business long enough, you hear a little of about everyone in style.

Hunter and Wagner ā€” incredible players. Unbeknownst to most, they shared studio duties on those scorching solos on Aerosmithā€™s cover of ā€œTrain Kept A-Rollinā€™ā€ (ā€˜74), and never got credit for it. Hereā€™s the interesting back story:

https://www.guitarworld.com/artists/who-really-played-aerosmiths-train-kept-rollin-guitar-solos

Joe Perry is a decent axeman, but nowhere near the level of Hunter or Wagner. The guitar work on Train never made sense to me until the truth was finally revealed by Hunterā€™s wife a few years ago. Then Aerosmith reluctantly admitted it.

Yeah, Iā€™d imagine your area has no shortage of outstanding players.

I really enjoyed Glen Campbell. Saw him only once at a Republican fund raiser. I got to meet him.

What a beginning in life he had in order to become the individual he was.
A member of the Wrecking Crew, he sang on hit recordings and no one even knew it was himā€¦.because the record companies didnā€™t want anyone to know.

Alice used to hang out at my aunt’s house with my cousin Mike, a fellow Phoenix wannabe rock star. Humble beginnings.

Fun fact...

“Ghost Riders in the Sky” was the inspiration of The Doors’ “Riders on the Storm”

ā€œWe were playing (Ghost) Riders In The Sky and Jim was fooling around and came up with ā€˜Ghost Riders On The Stormā€™,ā€ guitarist Robby Krieger recalled in 2013. ā€œWhen we recorded it, Jerry Scheff, the [session] bass player, just played what Ray [Manzarek] was playing on the keyboard with his left hand, and thatā€™s why itā€™s so distinctive. Itā€™s not something a bass player would come up with ā€“ it has more of a jazzy melody to it.ā€

Excellent guitarist; some of his songs are just too sad for me; I like Wichita Lineman.

You are so right and I do not know that

The intro On the album

Obviously hunter

The overdub on the first live is dick

Those guys are just so good together like Duane and Dickie or Allen and Gary

Or the two leads on wishbone ash

On obscure band with an iconic album cover if ever there was
