Speaking of HORSES, here's a very crafty lady I saw on Facebook that made this horse from scraps of various fabrics. LOVE the detail on the eyes!

"I've had an obsession with horses lately. Upcycled from felt found at estate sale, mane is from a 90's furry vest, vintage buttons & scrap of wool for saddle."

Merry Christmas to all my fiber art friends. I have a few of those clear ornaments so I am all over that first one. I think I even have a cheap thin plastic crochet hook I can cut down.

Very cute! I’ve done all sorts of ‘crafty stuff’ with those clear ornaments. Just love them! :)

Yes I have too, an easy favorite one was to put some glitter inside and swirl it around, it will stick, then use some puff paint to do the year. Another good one is to take a fake pointsettia glower, white works good. If you roll it together tight you can get it inside and it will open up.

Oooo! Yes, to the glitter! Never thought about a Point in there! We did swirls of paint inside them, too. My kids liked that one. We made them for The Grandmas. ;)

I love it!

My two are all bundled up (in their Aldi’s bags, plastic gift bags over heads to disguise them) & ready to go ... we’ve been invited down for some dinner at 6 & my SIL wanted me to bring the horses with me so the girls will know who is giving the horses to them. So as of right now, there’s still some “excitement” to come.

I did get my “Go For Faux” yarn the other day so I can start on that Annie hat. My friend wants to meet next week, one of the days Wed - Sun so the hat needs to be done by Wednesday. Hopefully, I’ll get a bottle of wine from my SIL for Christmas - I think I’m going to need it, working with “fur” yarn where you have to ‘feel’ the stitches.

It’s very quiet here with the folks - we watched Christmas Eve services online. My brother invited me over last night to sit around a fire pit with everyone at his house .... the great-nieces were roasting hot dogs, the Collie was stealing hot dogs (LOL), the beer, wine & stories (mostly hunting) were flowing. Some smoked venison shoulder, hot peppers & spicy mustard were making the rounds, too. It was a good time & I really enjoyed it. This morning, my gift to the folks was to make them a breakfast casserole & I gave them some ‘special’ coffee ... dad actually liked the casserole, so that was a good thing!

I hope you & yours & everyone else is having a meaningful, blessed Christmas. ~Q

Well, there goes Christmas dinner. My niece’s hubby’s sister just called & has tested positive for the WuFlu. Rats! My brother is coming up later with some food/presents & will likely leave them on the porch - we are not going to risk taking my folks over there. I guess my brother will take the horses back with him.

Looking on the bright side, I’ll be able to watch the Green Bay game uninterrupted while I’m knitting/crocheting.

Bummer after you worked so hard on the horses. Maybe they can do a video call so you can see them open the bags.

Everything worked out ok! Grandpa brought the girls up on his 4-wheeler which they loved, and we had “porch presents”! The littlest one (3) kept saying “can we keep them?” ... she couldn’t believe the horses were theirs. The oldest one wanted to take the blanket off right away so I showed her how ... then she wanted it right back on so her horse “wouldn’t get cold”. I think they’re still a little ‘blown away’ - the horses are ‘large’ (their mom was exclaiming on how big they are). The littlest one was stroking the mane on her horse ... pretty silky.

My original present was a kid’s cookbook & I got them both “dinosaur” aprons to wear when cooking or doing messy crafts - they are obsessed with dinosaurs almost as much aa horses. They loved the aprons & had to put them on immediately.

They both gave me a quick hug before they headed back across the field on the 4-wheeler, still wearing their aprons ... their ‘new’ horses were riding too! That was actually more fun than just taking the horses down to the house. :-)

I saw this & thought you might like it .... love the texture - reminds me of the Christmas stocking I made for my great-nephew this year. Before I made that, I wasn’t a fan of chunky yarn, but for textures, it’s great! The colors are pretty, too.

BTW, on the stocking, my niece stuffed it full so it was huge & took a picture next to my great-nephew - the stocking was as big as he was LOL! It might take him a while to outgrow that stocking.

Oooo! 'Chunky Cakes!' That's my new nickname, LOL!

Would you mind sharing with me (and us!) your favorite crochet blogs? One of my 'resolutions' is to find ways to use up yarn on hand and not buy any more until spring. Yeah, I know - famous last words - but I want to make 1-Skein things if possible, and need some new ideas. I'm thinking kids' hats for Warm Up America and lap quilts for my Dad's old Care Facility - if the PLAGUE is ever lifted! ;)

Most of the things I come across are from a FB group that posts free patterns, but I’ll see if I can come up with some other sites.

The public FB group is:
All FREE Crochet Patterns picked by CrochetKim

I can tell you right away, the site I end up on the most lately is “Handy Little Me” because of her knitting patterns ... she features Outlander patterns & that book is my all-time favorite book ... the book series that follows is really good as well. I saw a couple seasons of the TV series and liked it. Her patterns are well-written:

For Christmas, she gave away free patterns for Advent - very nice!

The Crochet Crowd has a lot of free patterns:

Thanks! I like Mikey's videos at The Crochet Crowd.

My friend is totally into everything 'Outlander.' She had a group of gals that would come over for Scottish treats and watch the TV show, together.

I'll give the book(s) a try again this winter. For some reason I just couldn't get into it at first - but I'm no quitter!

Outlander .... give it about 100 pages. The first couple of chapters were sort of slow, IMO ... but once Claire lands in Scotland, it gets interesting rather quickly. I confess to being more or less in love with James Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie Frasier. Sigh.

Claire is into herbs/plants for healing ... the old timey stuff ... you’ll like that.

BTW, started on my first “faux fur” hat. I’m on round three .... I’m also on my 3rd glass of wine. By the time I get through with this hat, my Black Box (Christmas gift) of Pinot Grigio is going to be empty!

Very productive day before yesterday - made two batches (12 jars) of Blackberry Merlot Wine jelly that I needed for a Christmas gift & a Jan 15th birthday gift ... I think they turned out great! I was short on wine (I use $3/bottle Oak Leaf Merlot from Walmart) so I used a little bit of a red wine given to me as a gift to top off the amount of wine I needed. It doesn’t affect the taste, but it makes these batches a little “special” because of the person who gave me the wine & the wine itself ... I looked it up .... $45/bottle. YIKES! :-)
