That's about right.
Every once in a while I thought of that song-—and actually referenced it here. When a new restriction of rights is added somewhere I think about it.
So many laws we didn’t know about are in effect. People at an outdoor seating area of a restaurant had a dog at their feet in MI. I had just heard it “might” be made legal soon after to do that but there was a law against it.
Independent pizza place (that dates it) where I delivered, part of my job was to go to the owner’s mother’s house and pick up jars of her home made Italian sauce. That turned out to be illegal-—made off the premises of a food inspected building where it was sold. Oh, well. By the way, I was 19 and got the job because the guy before had been robbed. One guy held his head with a cold blade against his throat while the other one got his money. Job opening. The guy quit.
Someone at work had a relative who bought, traded or sold various things back and forth on his farm but once sold his buddy an old pickup and some other stuff with a shotgun in the deal. Big mistake. Illegal transfer, etc. and he was labeled a felon, lost his right to vote, and fined.
But the main place to remember the song is at a park or beach with no open liquor, no open fires, no controlled substance, no camping, no loud music......followed by Enjoy Your Day In Our Park. How?
Yep, although it seems like I usually hear Tesla’s cover version these days.
Which reminds me for some reason that Motley Crue’s cover of Smokin’ in the Boys’ Room seems to be the one they usually play.
I’m gobsmacked that there was even a question for that!
Merry Christmas to you too!
I absolutely hate that song.
Amen to that.
I called 911 for cows on the road at one of the only farm pastures that joined the city limits.
The operator laughed at me.
And the sign said
“Anybody caught trespassin’
Will be shot on sight”
So I jumped on the fence and I yelled at the house
“Hey! What gives you the right
To put up a fence to keep me out
But to keep Mother Nature in?
If God was here, he’d tell you to your face
‘Man, you’re some kind of sinner’”
Always wondered why the last part of that wasn’t the sound of a gunshot? He hopped a fence and yelled at him. So much for tresspassing and being shot on site. Never ever allow the criminal to monaloge! Its your word against his dead ass! Heres your sign!
commies hate the entire concept of private property ...
Fifty years later and I still like this song. Especially the intro, which they often cut out on the top 40 stations years ago.
Really.
It wasn’t until years later that I understood the socialist/communist undertones of that song.
Wonder what he would have reacted if a group of poor whites from WV were to break into his house?
I’m with you on that, but...I did like the tune for sure!
Was that a one-hit-wonder kind of band?
Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They can just play “The Brown Note”!
I did not know that...
Heh. I haven’t listened to music on the radio in at least 20 years...
I miss it, in a weird kind of way. When you listened to music on the radio, it did tie a culture together a bit.
Now, we all listen to what we like. Which is pretty cool, too!
I was a longhaired punk when this was current and popular.
I always sang it as,
“I jumped on the house and I yelled at the fence”
just to see if anybody would notice.
