This is a point i've been trying to get through to some people. Washington DC is a corrupt institution filled with influence peddlers who use behind the scenes influence to create laws favorable to their interests at the expense of everyone else.

This stuff started before the Civil War, and was the major contributing factor to why there was a Civil War.

I can answer the question. The US is now an extremely corrupt nation. The US is every bit as corrupt as Somalia or Mexico. Our government institutions the FBI are all as corrupt as any cartel owned Mexican politician. The US is a failed state.

The govt. is just like the mob in the movies. Remember the line, "I took care of that thing for ya"? That's the way our govt. works. Individual Sens. and Reps. depend on other Sens. and Reps. to know people in different agencies etc who can apply pressure to get things accomplished. Once this is done, an in kind favor is owed. Should your Rep or Sen not know who to go to for the "favor" or not want to *owe* that politician or bureaucrat, you will get at best the Thank You FY letter along with a request for $$$$$$$

No, Congress people don’t have to deal honestly with their constituents. We don’t have to re-elect them if they are not honest.

In fairness, I could see a freshman Congress person would not have clout to get an answer. If they just told me that they could get no info on that, I would have to accept that.
