The Bee Gees were so impressed with the sound from 461 Ocean Blvd that they went and rented it out to record the songs that would later become known as Disco.
No, he didn't.
Eric Clapton’s management has announced it does not intend to collect the money owed
Your own article. First line.
You should read it.
And while this will be labeled as an overreaction please look up the case of Lady A. She did not defend her name. And now she may lose it to more famous group.
IP is a serious thing and if you do not defend it you will lose control.
bkmk for further study.
Clapton himself likely had absolutely nothing to do with this suit.
The worst concert I ever attended was an Eric Clapton concert in 1979 in Mobile, Alabama.
The 2nd worst was Bob Dylan Hurricane Carter concert in 1975 in Houston, Texas.
The best concert ever was Led Zeppelin at the Fillmore West in San Francisco in 1969.
“Frank Zappa packaged the bootlegs and sells them today on FrankZappa.com”
I was in the audience when Frank told us all not to buy an album that Warner Brothers released because he hadn’t approved it.

I’ve never been a huge follower but respect him as one of the greatest guitarists ever.
I also give him applause for his stance against mandates, even to writing a song against them.

(can’t believe Youtube hasn’t removed it yet)
I saw the Who at the Hollywood Bowl in 1967. The other acts were better (Everly Brothers, Sunshine Company, the Animals).
“I’m going to cause a disturbance in the force, but I never liked Clampton.”
Anything much after cream didn’t impress EVH either.
Me?
I like this early stuff, bluesbreakers Yardbirds and Cream.
Of course there was the Layla album and some of his Delaney & Bonnie stuff play Mad Dogs and Englishmen Maybe, but after that I think I really only listen to a few other albums in one of those was “EC Was Here, and From the Cradle, 24 nights.... I understand the EVH comment. But am not in 100% agreement.
“Remember when he stole George Harrison’s wife?”
I thought that was some kind of guitar trade.
Went to 6 Grateful Dead shows and 11 Jerry Garcia Band shows, don’t remember a thing.
Elton John was the best show I attended.
As I understand it, their marriage was already on the rocks. The worst you can say of Clapton in that is that he hastened the inevitable. That he and George remained friends after suggests that Harrison wasn’t that broken up about it.
Turning Bob Marley into an international star.
FWIW, this was Clapton's only #1 hit.
I would think that he could have sued for some sort of nominal damages. Establish her liability for her actions and protect his rights, but settle for some token amount. She likely would have agreed to it just to avoid a judgment like this one.
Right now Gibson is trying to sue Dean Guitars for copying a couple of Gibson’s models. Unfortunately Dean has been making them for 40 years+ and the headstocks are different. Gibson only filed a couple of years ago. The US lawsuit continues but Gibson just got its @ss handed to it in German Courts.
Gibson is also trying to say they own the guitar shape you see on virtually every acoustic guitar. Good luck with that one.
Gibson’s quality went in to the tank years ago and instead of fixing the issues they decided to sue everyone who stepped up to fill the gap. When $500 similar guitars are better than $4000 Gibson custom shop guitars you of course sue the competition, right?
“Remember when Clapton stole Bob Marley’s,I shot the sheriff, song?”
Tell J.J.Cale about it.
Yep. George Harrison got a killer 1957 Les Paul out of the deal.
Clapton got a future ex-wife.
Harrison probably stole her from someone else.
Gibson does not have a case because, if the the facts are as presented, they let someone use their design for 40 years.
At that point they can not stop anyone from using it.
Defend or lose.
That is why fanfic is such a murky area.
You like our stuff! So much that you want to make up your own stories set in our universe! That is great! Now, stop it or we will have to sue you.
Back thirty or so years ago the rule was, do not sell or officially bring it to the attention of the copyright holder and you were ok. Now with on line publishing and blogs it has really become a mess.
I’ll tell him After Midnight.
