Blowjob, either way in today's world.
I have some personal insight into the hiring practices of yacht owners.
Your comment hits the nail on the head.
https://www.vesselfinder.com/vessels/TROPIC-BREEZE-IMO-8906315-MMSI-312815000 built 1989. I think the stern only had shell plating over steel frames. Not sure if rudder box had a bulkhead or only a companionway with a sea clock back from the engine room. Likely running with everything open (very common practice in good weather), it gets hot down there with the engine(s) and the gensets running.
journeyman... just looked at his imdb - impressive
You only need one radar. But you have to look at it. Better in clear weather you just need to look at what’s going on around you. Most vessels have enough lighting you can see them from miles away.
the eople did not need all that fuel, anyway. they would just pollute the air with it.

I disagree. On a $50 million dollar vessel I would want 2 radars for convenience, safety AND redundancy in case one has problems. Trivial expense given the enormous costs of purchasing and maintaining the boat.
On my last boat I had a Garmin GPS for a back up to my Raytheon chart plotter and Furuno differential GPS. Also had a handheld VHF radio as a backup. Redundancy is great to have on a boat. Essential of a yacht.
You missed my point. The radar is worthless if you are not actually using it.
All that stuff is great, but I used to drive a nuclear submarine with a mark 1 mod 0 eyeball and never had a problem. Yeah we had SatNav and fathometers and precision optical position plotters and a bevy of trained grew to use it all, but for the most part it just confirmed what I could already see.
Oh, and I ran through a lot of pretty congested and constrained areas. And I never ran into nuffin, or the ground either.

Let me guess...must have been a boomer. ;)
