I know 4 people who had it twice. Second bouts were recent and likely omicron. My Pastor claims to have had it 3 times. He didn’t say he actually tested each time.
Hope you feel fine soon.
I am unvaxxed and coming off a case of covid, likely delta. Of course there is a chance you could get it again. In fact you could be smacked in the face by a flying goose while on a ski lift too but I would not bet on either of those things happening. There are now lots of studies out there including a very large scale one from Israel that indicate there far far fewer breakthrough cases among those with natural immunity than among the fully vaxxed and boosted. That would not have surprised any virologist or epidemiologists 3 years ago but apparently what was accepted science is no longer or at least not at the CDC or the White House.
PS - if you take your medical advice from an octogenarian MD who never really practiced or Dr. Jill Biden I wish you the best of luck but I am not betting on you reaching ripe old age.
Sounds like you have Omincron which might be a blessing as it may protect you from getting the “D” version whic is worse.
My daughter’s friend had it in September and she has it again now. Different strains.
If you have Omicron, you should start to feel better soon.
You and tens of millions of other Americans!
I “overload” on zinc, VitD and quercetin when I feel ill.
FWIW - in the course of the last 10 months, my daughter’s friend from college was double-vaxxed, then got covid (felt like the flu), got boosted, and just tested positive again for covid (no symptoms)
It’s possible if it is a different strain of the virus.
I can attest to the fact that you can get reinfected. In my case, I believe it was two different variants: Delta and something else.
This book has the following good information:
“Boosting the Immune System is a horrible idea that is used by people trying to make you buy useless stuff!
Luckily the danger is pretty mild that you could actually boost your immune system since basically nothing you can buy legally does it! Even the mere term “strong immune system” is a misnomer. Over everything else, you want a balanced immune system. Homeostasis., Aggression and calmness. You want elegant dancers who remember the choreography really well over pumped-up rugby players who want to smash stuff. In all likelihood, your immune system words exactly as intended.
OK now, wait. If boosting the immune system is so crazy complicated and dangerous, why is the internet filled with products that promise to do exactly that?
From infused coffee to protein powder, mystical roots dug up in the Amazon rainforest, or vitamin pills, there are an endless amount of thing you can buy to “boost” your immune system.
In reality, nobody knows how many cells of which kinds and at what activity level is necessary to have your specific immune system work optimally. Anybody who says that they know what is needed is probably trying to sell you something.
At least for now, there are no scientifically proven ways to directly boost your immune system with any products that are easily available. And if there were, it would be very dangerous to use them without medical supervision.
The most important thing you need to do to have a healthy immune system is to eat a diet that provides you with all the vitamins and nutrients your body needs. The reason is, simply, your immune system constantly makes many billions of new cells. And all these newborn cells need resources to function properly. Malnutrition is strongly associated with a weak immune system.
If you feel you have a shortage of a vitamin or microelement or something, this is something you should discuss with your doctor in real life.
Well, look at it like this: If you have an old rusty car that that you have used for off-roading for decades, with a broken axle, blown-out tires, and a busted headlight, do you think you can fix it by putting by putting special gas in the tank and slapping on a new finish? You can’t undo the damage that you caused by treating a car really badly through magic. If you want your car to run better and longer, just take better care of it and, you may have guessed it, your body is exactly the same."
You have Covid...and you’ll be fine. Treat it as others have said.
Spouse and I had it over Christmas/New Year. Yeah it sucked, as being sick always is, but we’re good now. We had access to Ivermectin and used it along with other supplements.
Don’t panic, but seek medical assistance if you feel it becomes necessary, primarily if you start to labor with breathing, otherwise you’ll be fine. It will take a few days to get past it all of it though and then you’ll be good to go. Again, try not to allow the surrounding fear about Covid overwhelm you as I think that may be easy to do, especially with concerned family half freaking out.
Safe recovery!
Is there a chance of me getting reinfected?......
Sounds like you’re mostly over it.
No data on omicron yet that I’ve seen. For other strains I saw 1 case per 1000 infections.
Coronaviruses have been around for thousands of years and will continue for thousands more...just like the Flu.
Seems like covid is really speeding up or something. I got it in December. Worst experience of my life. Lost 25 lbs. Ok what ever. Then I start reconnecting with the various offices I deal with and they all are down on staff out with Covid. No one really gives a crap about clearing jobs which is the usual interest. People seem a little shell shocked. They’re also getting sick of this unending bullshit.
Get well soon and don’t listen to any medical advice from anonymous strangers on the internet.
I hope you get well soon. The answer to your question is yes, you can get it again. But, you are less likely than you were before you became infected.
Why were you going around people if you knew you had the virus.
Will any other antihistamines work? I can’t take Benadryl; it makes me climb the walls. I do take generic Claritin twice daily
I’ve been trying yo get Omicron. No luck yet. My previous immunity seems to be holding. Not really sure if any have had it multiple times. Since the PCR counted flu as covid, and there were only 1800 flu cases worlwide last year ( not even close to likely). Chances are the multiple infections were flu and covid.
