Tech PING! Thinking I need a security system. Has anyone looked at them? Thoughts? I want a stand alone with night vision and recording capacity. Is there such a duck?

Those Wyze cams are not to be trusted. Phone home to chicom servers. You can find open source firmware for them that can be installed to eliminate that problem.

Interesting... Check out this video review on wyzecams at 4:30. The Chinese IP address controversy was answered to my satisfaction. But if the Chinese communists want to waste their time and resources looking at activities around my house, they are more than welcome to. I am more worried about the actual criminals living on this side of the Pacific ocean.

I use Ring for the doorways. Useful for deliveries when I’m at work. Porch pirate problems went away.

Also for answering “what the h-— time did I get home from the bar last night”.

Yes, they have been wothless for actually answering someone who actually pushes the button hoping to talk to you because of the usually long delay between the time the button is pushed and the time you get the alert on your phone. But they are recognized by thieves and this seems to actually help prevent packages from being stollen. And they help me remember how long it actually has been since I took the dog out to relieve itself. My wife can check to see if I actually have remembered to leave to pick her up from her physical therapy appointment and give me a reminder call if I have not.

I’ll 2nd Eufy for now. Have had ours less than a week, so I can’t vouch for long term value but seems to be a great system. Extremely easy install.

Thank you for this comment. I am looking for such a system... Our newly diverse, culturally rich, newly blue, newly welfare-addled area has brought new realities into our lives. Neighbors recently had a catalytic converter torn off their Prius - in their driveway.
