What companies might be doing is to shut down the entire factory to break the infection cycle when more than just a few workers call in sick.
Read this article at Conservative Treehouse to get more insight into how the supply chain works.
Reminds me of Amos 8:5,

“Everything tasted like salt when I had kung flu.”
I experienced the same but only for a short time. Taste and smell were gone for about 7-10 days. The salty taste appeared around the end of the 7-10 days, I guess that was just the beginning of the end of no taste. Oddly, the 1st thing I actually really tasted was pineapple. Had a bowl of fresh fruit; cantaloupe, grapes, watermelon, honeydew and pineapple. Could not distinguish the taste of any but the pineapple.
Half dozen eggs, .95 to 1.50. If you can find them.
“I’ll barter the dogs to Chen’s for some Mongolian Beef.”

I only eat two out of the four: meat and eggs.
I’ve got 6 laying hens, and meat can be had at $4 to $6 a pound.
I’ve got canned and dried beans as backup for the meat.
Don’t forget the rice or other grain to go with the beans for a full protein.
I’ve got rice also.
