On the other hand, I like the Brits, especially older Brits. They like and respect Americans. Young Brits are nothing but wankers.
Over 30-yrs traveling there for business and lived in London twice.
Brit Uni students are all fashionably anti-American but most at heart like the states and Americans.
Been there enough times that I understand them and know them and I generally like them—especially Scots to the west.

Scots don't consider themselves Brits. I grew up in a town full of them in NJ. Nice enough folk but the Scots over hated Trump.

I've said a number of times I'm neither a strict Anglophobe or Anglophile. In between I guess. What I don't like is the attitude sometimes displayed that we're still some colony of theirs and nothing pisses me off more than foreigners who say they hate America but love our culture. I remember watching a video just after Trump was elected. It was filmed in London and in Edinburgh, Scotland. Not one of them, Brit or Scot had anything good to say about Trump. Interestingly 9 out of 10 of the young people, when asked said they want to come here. Poncey anti American little gits, all of them if you ask me.

Isolated incident , perhaps ...My buddy and I did a two week more or less pub crawl of Northern England back in 1983 . We were so close to Scotland that one day we decided to drive over the border and hit the first pub we saw , which we did . Ordered 2 pints and sat down at a table that was not far from a pool table which some Scot guys were using . AS soon as they realized were Americans they intentionally shot a ball in our direction just missing our table as if to say get the F out of here . Jealous of our being American was the cause methinks . We finished our pints and left to return to North Yorkshire .

It’s amazing how quickly a big payout can cure all that trauma and mental anguish.

Understood.
That is why l like the western Scots.
They are a hardy people and west Texas was mostly settled by Scots and today they respect hard work, are conservative and voted Trump.
Media is doing their usual thing, finding those that fit their narrative, a narrative that is hostile to America.
A people that were so tough and feared that the Roman Empire built a wall to keep them out (Hadrian’s Wall).
Out of the metro areas are good English and the Welsh I find to be a prideful people—and with good cause.
Like the states, there are many different types.
Took me years to find good pubs in Yorkshire, East Anglia, Cambridgeshire, up the Trent River Valley and even in London (only those with old patrons). Doormen are also good to know, they like Americans and not only for their good tips, they also know local London pubs that welcome Americans.
Good way to avoid arrogant young bankers and gold-diggers.
Anyway, sad to hear your experiences with Brits was not good.
Cheers

It’s not that I ever had a bad experience with any Brit, and I have met a few here in the US over the years. Pleasant enough but then they weren’t in their own country so....

My truck with the Brits is, as I say their decidedly snobby attitude towards Americans. To them we’re still a bunch of Neanderthals with guns.

Thanks. You kind of made my point. More than half the world wants to get here. I work with people from just about every country on Earth including people from western and eastern Europe.

Eastern Europeans, the Poles, Ukrainians, Russians(mouthy types) Greeks(nasty people) and people from points east are nice enough, humble and polite. The Brits I've met here, French(yup, run into a number of them) are the loud, pushy types. "In my country the health care is free'', ''In my country we don't have guns''. Curious thing about the Ukrainians I see working at my job is that they're all women. Young women primarily, beautiful young things but I never see any Ukrainian men working. Must be a cultural thing.

Some are snobby, not all and in my experience most aren’t unless you meet someone that works in The City or is a uni student or professor.

Oh, they really don’t understand guns.

Most that like the US in their heart want to join the US.
As I tell them; “give up that European Union nonsense, come on over to the dark side, join with the US. . .we will let you keep the Pound and the Queen”

As a young guy traveling solo in the ‘90s I met a WW2 RAF pilot and his wife on the train in London. He invited me to his house and we exchanged Christmas cards until he died a few years later. One of the best travel experiences of my entire life.

Seems as though Andrew had a long-standing reputation as player back to his youth. They called him Randy Andy even before he hooked up with the B-list American actress, Koo Stark. Shades of Markle, there, though he had the foresight not to marry her.

I guess because he was not directly in the line of succession, he was less discerning in his relationships. Still, he has always been in the public eye, and any mistakes are sure to be publicized. Not sure exactly what went on between him and Epstein, but it seems that anyone who had a close friendship with him had to be aware of what it was all about. Andrew probably never imagined this would become public, as the girls always were well compensated. At least that's what the story was.

I agree. I would just want the Europeans to be able to have 2nd. Amendments rights as we do and exercise those rights in their own back yards.
