“Just have every place in the U.S. change to the next time zone to the east.”
Cute, but what if you don’t have a compass?
Pick a time and stick with it - year round. ST, DST i don’t care.
You don’t work day shift, I would bet.
I recommend that if they keep it they change the designation of “Standard Time” to be the opposite of “Daylight Savings Time” and call it “Daylight Wasting Time.” Officially.
DST actually increases energy usage because people get home earlier, turn the air conditioning up, and run it for longer.
Lighting, especially with LED bulbs is a minor part of energy consumption.
It would be more interesting to have it on a random rotation.
I’m having problems with my Ridgline Clock. What’s this bug you speak of and is there a fix?
It’s 25 or 6 to 4!
End it? But the farmers won’t know when to milk the cows.
Actually, no, add an Atlantic Time Zone for New England states.
For Maine all the way out to Michigan being in the same time zone is ridiculous.
It gets dark so stinking early on the eastern seaboard and the sun comes up when people aren’t.
I’m the opposite. I absolutely detest waking up and getting to work in the dark. If the sun ain’t up, I shouldn’t be up. 😋
Insurance actuary tables show a rise in heart attacks, strokes and accidents of all sorts for a 2 week period after each change.
I wonder why that happens.
Daylight savings time is one of the stupidest ideas of all time.
I hate daylight savings time. Today, I got up with the sun, tomorrow it will be pitch dark when I get up. Let’s have year-round standard time.
Those who want DST, really just want to redefine “high noon”, I’m still trying to figure out what is wrong with having the sun in the middle of the sky at noon time.
My personal opinion is to keep the fall jump back to add an hour but stop the jump back. We can all live in a first, second and third shift every 24 years on a repeating schedule. We can (every 24 years) an extra leap year Day to February to get it more days. February has always been neglected so giving another extra day seems socially responsible. I like my. We rules. Everyone needs to do it my way because I’m special with an idiotic idea but it’s fair to all workers on all shifts. So it’s social neutral.
The extra hour of daylight due to DST is responsible for global warming.
Yeah, “AST” is too small...I guess USA wanted to keep it at 4 zones instead of including Nova Scotia w/Maine and making it 5 time zones for the mainland:

You would win the bet...working swing shift for a dozen+ years then a graveyard shift for a few years made me into a “night owl”! ;-)
