This topic was on talk radio about half a year ago. PART of the reasoning was that most crimes occur after dark. When it turns dark at 4:00 or 4:30 one could see that the crime rate increased. Turning light later in the morning made less of a difference. Not many crimes are committed at 5:30 or 6:00 in the morning.

There should be a Congressional study proposing states to do this. I think everyone can agree on this. It would be stupid to be stuck on either standard or daylight time year round.
Northern states not fans of “year round DST”....sunrise at 9am in Winter is a bummer for school kids and the AM commute:

I agree with it for at least Southern California, having lived there and remember it getting dark before the end of the work day. I just figure it’s gay, due to being California.
Good news, I hope changing the clocks thing ends, the sooner the better.

My post was meant as sarcasm. I’ll remember the sarcasm tag next time.
Newfoundland is 30 minutes ahead of the neighboring provinces of Canada. It looks like Iran, Afghanistan, India, Burma, North Korea, South Australia, and several islands in the Pacific Ocean all have time zones that are 30 minutes ahead or behind the neighboring zones.
DST is so good that we need it year round.
Next, we will need double daylight time in the summer.
Then DDST year round, because it is so good.
Etc, till we are about 12 hours shifted.
This will be Utopia.
Kind of like printing money non-stop to cure the world’s ills.
Surprised we are not seeing more people say that. It is logical.
Things keep going like they are they may bring back “War Time”.
Treat it like covid jabs and MANDATE 4 times a year changing the time!
I prefer daylight savings time to standard, but I don’t care which way they do it. Just stick with one way all year. Make a decision and go with it!
If we stay on DST won’t the sun be out later and the morning darker?
