You echo’d what I typed. More daylight in the morning makes more sense, not the evening time.

I hadn’t heard that term until I was older. We were on horseback on a hot dusty trail. When one of the guys said that and then passed around ice cold beers from his pack for each of us.

It wasn’t really beer, Coors Light, but it sure tasted good.

I live near the ocean in Florida and track sunrise all year long. There is a reason for DST and not just agricultural. These idiots don’t consider the kids at school. Not a bit. I’ve heard the wonderful “rep” Florida Senators state that this is good because it means the Spring Breakers and others (NYers/Massholes) can be in the bars and restaurants longer drinking booze in the sunlight hours. Thanks little Mario, just what Florida needs - more people and more drunks!

The Senate unanimously approved a measure

Just shows you where we are these days. No opposition party anymore. None whatsoever...

Not ONE Senator cares about all the little primary school kids who will have to walk to the bus stop on those bleak black December mornings...

Yeah, changing clocks is unnecessary; the clocks on our phones, computers, tablets, smart watches, most quartz watches...do it automatically.

For god’s sake, we are ruled by idiots.

Good grief. This reminds me of March 2008 in Iraq when al Sadr’s boys were making it rain rockets on or near the coalition areas. The Parliament called a special session to address this. We were waiting anxiously for news because we worked with the Ministry of Interior and weren’t able to go there during all of this.

We were in our offices on our FOB when we got an e-mail from our media folks passing along an announcement from the Parliament: “The Republic of Iraq will no longer be using Daylight Savings Time. On 1 April, we will not be moving clocks forward. We are now on Standard Time year-round.”

In the middle of a crisis.

During winter, stars will be shining while kids are getting on their school bus.

As I said in another thread, some of us in America still get up early to go to work. In order to get 8 hours of sleep during DST, I have to try to go to sleep an hour and a half before sunset.

Do we really need an extra hour to do stuff outside...in winter?

An Extra hour of sunshine in the hottest part of the day. Great. Keep those electric bills climbing.

This is what the Senate is focused on today?

Shhh. Let them.

If this is what they are busy with, it’ll keep them out of trouble.

Redoing the time zones would go a long way to taking care of the dark in the morning.

The Eastern time zone goes from Maine to Michigan and Kentucky, which make a significant difference.

In Portland ME, sunrise today was 6:53 AM and in Louisville, KY it was 7:53, a full hour later in the same time zone.

That’s just too much of a difference.

That’s a good idea. Where a place is located in the time zone makes a big difference.

It makes me laugh when I hear people saying that they get more daylight…As if we are affecting the amount of time the sun shines.
News flash, you’re not changing anything but a clock-still have the same amount of sunlight time. Never made sense to me. Someone tried to explain to me that it was for the farmers. Not knowing anything about farmer, I assumed that farmers didn’t even have clocks. They got up, worked until they were done then went to bed, probably never even looking at a clock.
