The classic cars is a reason I still like Perry Mason.

I grew up with the Brady Bunch and Partridge Family on Friday nights. When the Odd Couple came on, it was time to go to bed.

Especially Steed's '26 Bentley.

First episode of Columbo was “Prescription Murder” which aired in 1968, so you’re good 👍

There are a few cars that they use as background cars that appear over and over. One is a 63 T-Bird. It just shows up in a lot of episodes.

Not the right era for the shows perhaps, but I thought Crime Story had the classiest cars, especially Dennis Farina’s ‘57 Chrysler 300.

A bit of trivia. I was watching the first episode of Rockford files and during the opening , in the background, you can see Lieutenant Columbo’s Peugeot parked on the fishing pier.

We found The Rockford Files a year or so ago, and streamed every one of them. I love the show but I couldn’t help noticing the inconsistencies and discontinuities.
I cannot remember the specific episode, but there is one that shows the Firebird as 1976 or earlier (round headlights) in one part of a chase scene, and in another part of the same chase, it shows a 1977 model (square headlights)!!!
Now - I can see that, perhaps, but they must have had a TIME MACHINE... The episode was filmed before 1977... Maybe late 1976, but I seem to remember it was even before 1976. The first two seasons are 1974 and 1975.
Love that car (an “Esprit). It was a luxury model - made for “executives”.

Maybe the best show of it’s kind ever. James Garner had to quit because his knees were gone. You see him limp around in the last season.
Not great acting but you knew what you were going to get every episode.
Shows now preach at you, back then you could escape for an hour or two and drink a few beers.
