So what was the point in twerking in front of a war memorial other than being an asshoe?
What an idiot! Didn’t she realize that she was in RUSSIA? The Russians don’t play with kid gloves on. She will get what she deserves.
It doesn’t particularly matter what country she was in. What she was doing was stupid, rude, snd disrespectful.
I thin ANYONE caught twerking deserves 3 years in jail.
Period.
Nice at least to hear of a country where all the war memorials haven't been torn down.
“Twerking is not something one does by accident.”
Perhaps it was a form of tardive dyskinesia. You just never know where you’ll be when it strikes. /s
“Well, this will certainly aid Russia’s efforts to improve its tourism industry in the future. /s”
Apparently, did not read the travel guides…I’m going out on a limb here but it’s probably not a good idea to do this sort of thing in a country that lost maybe 25 million people in a much smaller world during that war.
With that being said, kids are idiots everywhere; a good slap upside the head, preferrably by a Russian citizen, not the police, would probably have been sufficient.
I dunno, a few years in the gulag as an example to others of what not to do sounds like a pretty good slap upside the head to me.
The message should be, “You’re not hot, you’re not funny and here’s our review of your performance: GO TO GULAG.”
They still don’t have definitive numbers on Soviet losses (which in and of itself indicates just how bad it was). Some of the latest research indicates it could be as high as 27 million, out of a then-population of about 170.5 million. So they lost about a literal sixth of their population fighting a war of extinction against a genocidal enemy. A war where putting women in combat wasn’t so much of a problem because the Germans were going to rape and kill them anyway so they might as well make them pay for it; a war where literally everyone lost at least one person they knew if not more.
Gee, I wonder why those people might be upset about someone disrespecting their memorial to that war. /sarc
It’s just that the relevant part of the code is named that. The actual offense (if you read the full article) she is charged with: ‘She is suspected of committing a crime under Part 4 of Art. 354.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (desecration of the symbol of military glory of Russia).’
