Rand Paul: "I think what is important for people to understand is, there is NO JUSTIFICATION for Putin invading another country – for the war in Ukraine. But there is an EXPLANATION”

He nails it.
The remaining question is who else has to die in order to prove him wrong.

Rand is completely correct here. No excuse for what Putin did, but it is still possible to explain his motives.

There was no justification for Hitler invading another country. But there is an explanation. During the 30 Years War, parts of Germany lost half their population. And Germany was only 1/40 the size of Russia, meaning it was vulnerable to foreign invasion. In some ways, Russia could be seen as rightfully German territory, given that the Romanovs were partially-descended, from Catherine onwards, German nobility.

It’s difficult to comprehend people have trouble understanding this. You can understand Putin’s reasoning and even agree with it. It doesn’t make you “pro Putin”

There is no justification for the US meddling in foreign elections, or is there?

First you say our enemies are free to engage in wars of conquest when their attempts to buy foreign leaders fail. Then you say we shouldn’t even attempt to influence foreign elections. Sounds like you’re saying we should hang back while our enemies get stronger.

What double standards? We tantalized Ukrainian voters with the prospect of freedom. The Russians bought Ukrainian oligarchs. The Russians lost. Ukrainians voted to remain independent of Russia. So Russia invaded.

Some people I was with were saying how EVIL Putin is. I said “Well, he might be, but he has his reasons such as....”
“AGGGHHH! No he doesn’t, he’s just EVIL!! Like HITLER!!!!!!”
Heck - even Hitler had his reasons.
