Have you ever wondered what products are derived from every barrel of oil? Here's a good infographic.

I tried explaining hydrocarbon cracking to a young(20’s) female once due to her liberal BS, deer in headlights...

It’ll then be illegal for ICE vehicles; perfectly legal for EV vehicles’ parts, and the backlash will be horrendous.

A couple of years ago the protestors were out in Puget Sound trying to keep an oil platform from heading up to Alaska or somewhere. Trying to stop it with their kayaks.

Plastic kayaks.

Yeah, read about that. All those leftist liberals are hypocrites. Then too, why haven’t all those liberal media and movies types left America when they said they’d leave if Trump was elected. Why are they still here?

3 extra gallons? By volume, or by weight?

A quick search yielded the following:

You might have noticed that while a barrel of oil contains 42 gallons, it ends up producing 45 gallons of refined products. This is because the majority of refined products have a lower density than crude oil, resulting in an increase in volume that is called processing gain.

Interesting notion. I have to ask...which righteous search engine do you use?

Can ANY of them be truly called righteous? But Google is famous for relegating conservative fact and opinion to page 1,064 and floating leftist drivel to the top.

I usually use Bing; they appear a little less evil. Stuff doesn’t seem to disappear as quickly. But then Gates is among the UN Agenda 21 crowd who want 95% of the rest of us eliminated and the remaining half billion as his/their serfs. Like Russia & Ukraine, no good guys in this fight.

said, "it doesn’t matter how oil if formed."
Why?
As you said oil is on other planets that never had that much living organic material.

It doesn’t matter how it is formed. What matters is in what rock formations it can found. It is those which are running out.

People don’t have a great image of what oil is like underground. There are not lakes or reservoirs or oceans. It may be phrased that way, even by oil people, but that’s not what is there.

What is there is porous rock. The rock has 2 qualities of interest. Porosity and permeability. Visualize a jar of marbles. They have little gaps between them. Those are pores. Then the interconnectedness of the pores is the permeability.

That’s what the rock is in an oil field. Porous rock that has connections among the pores. They fill with oil and water. A mixture. They are down 1000s of feet and the rock pressing down creates enormous pressure.

If you then drill a well down to the pores, essentially open up to the surface, the pressure will squeeze the oil out of the pores into that low pressure opening leading upwards and upwards it will flow/gush. The interconnectedness will allow flow from some distance away from the well.

When the pores have flowed, extending outwards to all the available oil connected to flow path, that well is empty. Cap and Abandon. Drill elsewhere. It ain’t gonna refill.

This is the point. It doesn’t matter what the origin was of that oil in the pores. It doesn’t matter if those pores filled up from heat/pressure processed organic material or if it happened from some less understood emergence of hydrocarbons from deeper down. In both possible cases, it still takes millions of years for the pores to fill.

That’s why it doesn’t matter. This has been going on over 100 years. Of course oil people have gone back to empty wells and investigated if they refilled. They never do. Empty stays empty.

Hi.

You said many words to get to this conclusion...

“They never do. Empty stays empty.”

Sorry, but wells refill all the time.

Google it.

There are two known occasions of fields refilling, partially. Drainage from adjacent field where there was production. Proven by the markers of oil type matching that adjacent field and more particularly how adjacent field wells eroded barrels/day production as the oil made use of the prevailing permeability to spread. That permeability might even slowly draw oil from the same field where wells happened not to be drilled.

Sorry, there is no augment to Original Oil in Place.

But look. You don’t have to believe any of this. If you think capped and abandoned wells refill, you can go buy them and produce oil. I’ll bet you can get a good price for the purchase.

Look, all I stated was that wells do in fact replenish.

There are many documented examples. From SA, Iraq, Kuwait, to TX and Wyoming.

Economically viable wells or not, it is happening.

There are many geologist, oil executives, and others on this forum that can verify what I have posted.

I appreciate your post.

Seems we have two definitions of "Peak oil" as you say is a decline in oil in the area in a course of a life time. The leftist belief it will never reform oil in a geological scale.

Example of none organic crude oil for gasification is graphite and iron oxide. Which is likely how it's formed on other planets.

The point we're making is the leftist belief in Peak oil being a myth. Though the process isn't going to take place in someones life time. Near surface phreatic (cave pressures) and Phreatomagmatic (heat and water pressure) activity must be right.

Example of this might be the well is Russia called Z-44 Chayvo (from the Sakhalin-I project) which was one of the highest producers of oil in the world. It's a 40,000 foot deep well that had to stop when it hit the Moho (layer between crust and mantel. locals said it sounded like hell coming from the well before they shut it down.)

When looking into the Sakhalin-I project I found that ExxonMobil withdrawal from the project due to "Ukrainian war." Science! It's all about the Science™!
