I’m not sure what the name of the meds are. But he is more concentrated in school and pay attention instead of being like a cat..................

Thank you for your very kind words! I adore my grandson. He is such a special kid. He is very bright and very sweet. I’m so sorry you did not get diagnosed until you were older. I hope you’ve been able to make progress in the areas you’ve struggled with since you were young.

Thank you very much for your kindly words :-)

Yes, I have, luckily. But my life would have been a lot easier if there had been some support for me when I was a kid, and everybody considered me to be obstreperous and cantankerous, even when I was just afraid or downright panicking due to some situation which frightened me.

What a blessing it is that most people these days are so much more aware - and more tolerant - of the problems of autistic people, young and older. That is a real blessing from the Good Lord.

Wishing you a wonderful Sunday from Germany,

Menes :-)

One of the things I find difficult to understand is knowing when his behavior is due to the autism and when it’s due to him just being a typical little boy.

I visited Germany a few years ago. I have friends in Nürnberg. What a beautiful city that is!

So wonderful to hear that you liked it in Germany. I have never been to Nuremburg myself, but it really is a city packed with history - luckily there’s a lot more of it than just the remains of the disastrous era 1933-45.

And you are perfectly right with your assumption that sometimes your grandson’s behavior might be to the fact that he is a little boy rather than due to his autism.

It really isn’t easy to tell, sometimes even so if you are on the spectrum yourself it’s not easy to “parse” a patient’s behavior accordingly :-)

Best wishes,

Menes
