In 3 to 5 years.

Vast majority of Europe will cut 2/3rds of Russian gas consumption by the end of the year, with some countries cutting them off entirely. The only reason it is not 100% is because the Germans are stupid and won't turn their nuclear power back on.

I hope you realize that if things take a worse turn for Russia in this war and Putin decides to fire off a tactical nuke somewhere down the line

When we start hearing reports that Vladimir Putin and all his top military brass have become suicidally depressed, then I will become worried about a Russian nuclear strike.

It's more likely that Putin will be replaced, with Kadyrov and other former court jesters taking up power in various regions of Russia, before they'd fire nukes and then promptly get killed by our counterattack.

Wimbledon, the British tennis tournament, won’t be allowing anyone Russian to play. Even if they don’t even live there.

NHL is allowing Russians to play hockey.

There shouldn't be any problems with Russian tennis players in Wimbledon. It's not a team sport so it's not sanctioned by Russia.

Give it time. I’m not all that fond of Europe but they will manage. When they do what will Russia do with their oil? Oh I know Russians can become slaves of the Chinese, the Chinese will love having all that new land.

I’m sure the people remember how to be communist. They just have to pull out those dull clothes and line up for bread. Sharing apartments with other families was so much fun.

Enjoy comrade

Do you really think shipped LNG can make up for direct pipelines?

Apparently it will cover a large amount. The number I read was about 1/3rd of Russian gas will be replaced in this way in the short term, with more of it replaced as capacity is built. It is also not the only thing that the Europeans are doing, as they expect to cut massive amounts of Russian gas--which will be replaced by other sources-- just by the end of the year, except for Hungary and I think another country.

This retort doesn't work since you actually support Putin, whereas no FReepers support Biden despite your ugly claims otherwise.
Here is kiryandil not only supporting Putin but self identifying as a blood thirsty Russian "Z" invader...
I don’t care. NATO puppeted Ukraine to provoke the Russians.
Puppeteer globalist bullies deserve gruesome deaths.
Period.

You shouldn't have skipped economics in high school and college.

Sounds like you didn't take engineering or physical plant management, either.

Maybe if Europe feeds its herds of unicorns enough scrap metal, the unicorns will join hooves and excrete LNG tankers and LNG terminals.

The tiny Baltic countries are boasting of having gone to 100% LNG.

They haven't seen the bill for when demand for the world supply of LNG from its other future EU competitors spikes. LNG is sold at market rates - whereas piped natgas is sold at contract prices.

Oh, the mark that is gonna leave!

seriously - explaining basic economics to some freepers can get quite boring...

“The smart boys in the neocon brain trust thought that these crushing sanctions would cause the Russian economy to collapse like a house of cards in a matter of weeks.”

The neocons are idiots, this is by far the most incompetent bunch of clowns we’ve ever had in the White House. This isn’t Iraq or Iran, Russia can be practically self sufficient if need be, and controls vital resources. And so far they haven’t gotten China, India, Brazil, Mexico, or the many other unaligned nations to join in the sanctions, nor even Hungary for that matter. These neocon fools miscalculated, economies worldwide would collapse if Russian gas & oil were taken off the market. That is exactly what scares me, knowing the neocons will never admit to error, they will ramp up this war to involve a direct conflict with NATO, mark my words. There’s no way they can allow this to continue into next winter. Our country is being run by a bunch of freaking morons.

You shouldn't

Putinist, keep in mind that your "educators" on Russian telegram troll accounts lie for a living, so things may turn out more shocking for you than anticipated, like when Russia failed to take Kyiv despite all the boasts stating otherwise.

Do you really think shipped LNG can make up for direct pipelines?

I had to explain to the economics illiterate Greetings that LNG is sold at spot market price - whereas piped natgas coming from countries like Russia is sold on a negotiated long contract - a stable and low price.

Just think if you were running a business [let's say a lawn service company] that needed gasoline at a stable price that you could use to make bids on lawn services to summer customers - and you ran into a situation where the gasoline was fluctuating in price by 2 bucks a gallon.

You could be working for free or less if you bid your contracts without be able to account for those price swings.

All this bold talk about replacing Russian energy is ignoring basic business calculations.

You don’t know what you’re talking about, there’s currently not enough LNG terminals, and the ones under construction are still insufficient to make up the loss.

“This means most of Europe’s LNG terminals are operating at full capacity, especially in north-west Europe, where they feed large economies Britain, France and Germany, raising the question of how much more LNG can be processed.

“A few cargoes could be squeezed into some other countries, but not significant supply,” said Rystad Energy senior analyst Kaushal Ramesh, adding that logistical issues are likely to “burn a hole through buyers’ pockets, again”.

That's not even adding in the fact that LNG is sold at spot market price - whereas piped natgas coming from countries like Russia is sold on a negotiated long contract, with a lower and stable price.

I'll have to dig up the article where I saw that Russia has NOT booked any pipeline capacity for the 3rd quarter [actually, second AND third quarter]:

Gazprom books no Q2 or Q3 Yamal gas pipeline capacity at auction
