Leon's final, critical move was like watching the “Shoe. It was the stuff of legend—Ok, so I'm a sucker for track action.

He literally came out of nowhere. Running with the back of the pack, and then...OFF TO THE RACES in the stretch!

Great call by the track announcer.

Most “fun” Derby in a long time. $30K horse (claiming race price back in October) beats all the “big boys” .... one of the announcers said ‘the horse nobody was talking about wins the Derby’! Fantastic ride by the jockey, too.

Rich Strike’s jockey was amazingly patient. At a certain point, when many eent wide right, he snugged up to the rail. One zig-zag later, he saw pay dirt ahead and....went for it. Bravo!

Someone called me and said the owner is the guy who lost 20 horses in a fire. He thought he’d try racing one last time.

That was my first thought. Horse agitated before & after race. Did not seem normal.

WOW! What a race!

I’ve never before seen such a speed differential like Rich Strike gaining on and overtaking the field. Well, maybe Secretariat.

Maybe the horse was on drugs. The fix was in.

Possible, but not likely. They WILL test. I saw them read the embedded microchip to ensure his identity (they don't tattoo them under the lip anymore).

My Uncle-in-Law rode Seabiscuit a few times. He died a few years ago of a heart attack on his way to go dancing. He was in his late 80’s and had more energy than most people in their 30’s. What a life he had!

Wow - thanks for that, I didn’t know about the barn fire. I heard him say he didn’t think he’d get back in the business, but when he was introduced to the trainer, he thought he’d give it a try.

On a side note, my Thoroughbred mare I had for 20 years, just happened to be turned out with her dam, as was her half sister, on the TB farm where they were born. There was a barn fire & all horses in the barn were killed. The horses that survived were sold. My mare & her half-sister were bought as Christmas presents for 2 sisters who lived down the road. I bought my mare from one of the sisters when she was 9 - she lived to the ripe old age of 29. When I quit showing, she was retired to broodmare status & had 3 beautiful TB colts. If I ever had horses again, it would be broodmares. Aside from the financial loss, I can’t imagine how terrible it must be to lose horses in a fire. So happy for Rich Strike’s owner.

Ethereal Road, which means Heavenly Road scratched Friday. So the Heavenly Road opened the door for Rich Strike. Also, 80-1 odds. Moses was 80 when he said to let his people go. 80 also means in bible numbers the starting of freedom of the oppressors.

Horse was #21-Obidiah the prophet has 21 verses. Main theme-Obadiah’s prophecies focus on God’s judgment against the Edomites (a hostile neighbor of Israel) for their part in destroying Jerusalem. Obadiah’s message is that God will not forget His people even in their captivity but will accomplish His purpose through and beyond the appalling conditions they endure.

Remember last year, Medina Spirit cheated and won, later the horse had a heart attack and his victory was nullified. God loves speaking through horse races.

Rich Strike also was sired by Keen Ice, who beat American Pharoah(Obama) in 2012 to end his winning streak.

Rich strike had only raced 7 times before(7 God’s word). Sure there is more but this is what I found. God is great!
