They will be fine. Joe is sending a few billion more dollars to their great savior Zelensky. They can buy some clean bandages with the money left over after Zelensky and company take their cut, plus 10% to the Demented guy.

Where is the end point? By your hawkish logic the USA will be committed to fighting in endless wars as every war could expand into another one.

Answer: we should only fight where it directly threatens our existence ie
our border, NATO (why we should not allow them to expand much btw) and countries with close ties to us like Japan, Canada etc.

“Why should I care who owns eastern Ukraine?”

Very important question.

Defend Ukraine to reduce the likely hood of Russia attacking other neighbors. Feeding the bear only makes it more belligerent when you stop feeding it.

If the West had done this for Czechoslovakia in 1938 and not signed the Munich agreement Poland and the rest of Europe might have been spared a much more destructive war.

Some rulers get irrational ideas of empire and restoring a previous empire which may lead them to irrational actions.

“By your hawkish logic the USA will be committed to fighting in endless wars as every war could expand into another one.”

Ron Paul needs to tell that to Putin.

Anyhoo, that not what I said at all. I dont believe in inserting oneself in every war, nor do I believe in isolationism. There are plenty of wars that have happened that I could say the US should not, and has not been involved.

Mariupol is roughly 100 miles west of Rostov, and about 125 miles east of Crimea.

The Russians have soldiers and supply lines stretched out for 225 miles on the Sea of Azov north coast line.

If the Ukrainians have any offensive ability at all, this would be a perfect opportunity to cut that supply line in half.

If the Ukrainians could attack both east and west of Mariupol, they could isolate thousands of Russian soldiers in Mariupol.

The Russians would have to reinforce from the sea, which might be a sitting duck shoot for Ukrainian drones.

Same as the people who died at the Alamo, right?

Excuse me Neocon, the Alamo heroes were Americans.

See the difference?

I also don’t remember the moment when the Alamo defenders took their own people hostage while begging the enemy to spare them.

--- "We have no interest in this war as we have no interest in Ukraine, unless you are part of the grift."

Your observation that there are such double standards here on these posts is to be commended. Indeed there is war across the world, but the "grab your popcorn" class is utterly uninterested in such as the Ethiopian war, now well over 16 months duration. Grift has been the history of the US involvement in Ukraine, with Vidman attacking Trump on capitol hill, all the while the princelings of Pelosi, Biden, Kerry and Romney were peeling off massive profits in "free" Ukraine, even in that time at war with itself. The military "civil" war in the Donbass is now eight year old. Where was all the enthusiasm for FR stances on war in those last years?

Living under a rock, you can’t see much less understand what is happening in Ukraine.

The face of Europe is being transformed. Ukraine will become part of the EU and maybe NATO. The war is making Ukraine at least a tacit and honorary NATO member.

Russia being Russia can never get it right and will become an increasingly destitute third world nation. The concept of a Russian super power is now and for evermore will be a sad joke.

As a very good customer and fair to midding ally, Europe is important to America.

Today, isolationism is globalism's deadliest enemy. It is obvious which is more compatible with the survival of our republic.

Today, Isolationism is worse for everyone.

Our world is a lot smaller, much more interconnected economically. I dont have to mention the reality of nukes do I?. What happens half way around the world affects us more so than 80 years ago. Therefore Isolationism is suicide.

Depends on the war. Some of them are in our interest,(Ukraine), some are not (Ethiopia). When they are in our interest, we may want to get involved, even if its just helping to negotiate a settlement up to boots on the ground.
It has to be taken on a case by case basis.

No, suicide is running around the world exploring grievances, wars and throwing color revolutions because we believe ever area on earth should be an admiration district of the DC and London globalists.

This war only exists because we carefully cultivated it for over 10 years.

I don’t care if they are “Nazi Azovs.” They are still entitled to decent treatment as POWs. Promising (and delivering) decent treatment to prisoners is how you get the enemy to surrender. If they have committed war crimes that can be addressed later.
I know Sov, er, Russians don’t have a good record on POW treatment, but this might be the time change that.
