“My Thunderbird stopped working with gmail”
it’s because google stopped supporting all authentication methods except oauth2 ...
upgrading old Tbirds to the latest TB (91.9.1) has been a nightmare for thousands because simply upgrading doesn’t work because old TBs leave behind multiple incompatible config files ...
here’s what worked for me:

Millions of users should have kicked Google to the curb long before now.
I avoid Google like the plague if at all possible.

G**gle is the largest and most pervasive censor and manipulator of information that has ever existed ...
... at least in this planet.
If you use any G**gle product, you're as much as begging for a proctological exam every time you fire up a PC or handheld digital device.

"There are plenty of third party email clients that will work with gmail using OAuth2 instead of transmitting your username/password. Mail on Mac, Outlook, Thunderbird."Yes, I myself use Thunderbird portable, using IMAP (server imap.gmail.com) and ssl/tls for connection security, and OAuth2 as authentication method. Thank God it has worked well.
