From 2 years ago...

Disney Gets $5B Credit Line As Coronavirus Pandemic Hurts Business

Now I'm wondering how much taxpayer money Deep State is funneling to companies in exchange for going woke...

Its weird how a movie that made 50 million domestically in an opening weekend and is number 2 in box office just a little behind the number 1 movie is said to have “fizzled” just because the people that estimate how well it would do had guesstimate it wouod do even netter.

The number one movie is in it's second week (so not it's highest) and it also came in below expectations in its first week. And this is a "Toy Story" tied movie, always box office guaranteed gold. Say what you will about Hollywood but the accountants know what the patterns of a money maker of a movie and if expectations for a summer blockbuster release are missed by a big margin on week one then they start sweating ... a lot.

You can bet that Disney CEO Chapek is sweating hard right now. He took over after prior guy installed a super-woke culture and those woke NPCs don't care about making money, they care about making gay propaganda, especially for kids. And it's catching up with them at the box office and crucially in statehouses, especially Florida which just struck down their special legal protections in response to woke lobbying about grooming kids. Consequently the stock has tanked. A couple of high profile flops and he won't be CEO much longer.

cnn puzzled:

But several factors could have dampened turnout.

For starters, it may have been difficult for audiences
to know what exactly the film was about.

Any reason other than the obvious.

I’m completely done with Disney. Won’t even watch their older pre-trans lbqxyz films.

My wife and I still enjoy the films from the Walt years, like Snow White, Pinocchio, Fantasia, Bambi, Dumbo, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland and Mary Poppins, and probably a few others. Woke Disney is dead to us.

$51M still. Unfortunately that’s a lot of children being brainwashed and corrupted. Disney is evil.

Read your link.
It’s a cartoon. Even paying stars to do the voices, how in the world does a cartoon cost so much to make?

Anyway, glad it’s a failure. Wish it was a bigger failure.

So tired of this crap.

What is even more annoying is that in compliance with their CCP masters, Disney did remove the perversion crappola (IMHOpinion it is perversion if any reference to “naughty” is anywhere NEAR a film for kids). But, Pixar pervs objected, so it was re-instated for non CCP audiences.

They started with the grooming, got told to knock it off, and then (like a pedo that just can’t change) put it back. Put it back not for the $$ (obviously) but just to comply.

That movie cost $200 million to make will have to gross $400 million to break even now you can do the math

This very woke movie BOMBED.
And that has nothing to do with guessing.
And it will do even worse outside America with many non woke countries having already banned it.

ts weird how a movie that made 50 million domestically in an opening weekend and is number 2 in box office just a little behind the number 1 movie is said to have “fizzled”

1. The last Toy Story film made $120 in its first weekend. This made $51m
2. There were NO other childrens' films on the market, yet it still performed poorly. 3. "Lightyear" cost over $200m to make and they spent $100 million to market it.
4. It's been banned in 14 countries, including Egypt, Malaysia and Indonesia, with a combined pop of over 500 million.
5. Minions: Rise of Gru is coming in a week and will cause its revenues to collapse completely

It’s only been one week and everyone was going to the dinosaur movie. I hope it flops, but the next few weeks will tell the story. They are going to lose money in the counties that won’t show it because of the gay BS.

You think it will do better in the second week than in the first week do you?
Dream on!

Even if written by CNN, this still smacks of disingenuousness.

50mil is pretty standard for a top movie inits first month from what I’ve seen.

And it’s SECOND, just behind Jurassic World, which everyone knows is going to be the big topper. And which is ALSO terribly PC.

Stop getting so excited.

It needs to be in the 20mil and lower range to say it’s a real flop.

Yeah?
The last Toy Story film made $120 in its first weekend. This one made only $51m. Even with a much higher US population.

And it's SECOND, just behind Jurassic World, which everyone knows is going to be the big topper.

Except it was the second week of Jurassic World and it still beat the first week of the very woke Lightyear.
What more ya got?

It needs to be in the 20mil and lower range to say it's a real flop.

It cost $200 million to make. Plus another $100 in marketing. They need to make over $300 million to make their money back.
And it's been banned in at least 14 countries with a combined population of over 500 million. That will not help it.

You guys keep talking about ROI. Duh, it has failed for the studio with that. It’s a “bomb” for the studio.

We’re talking about if it made a dent in the typical weekly ratings.

It has. Sorry. It’s a “hit” by public standards. Not a huge one, likely, but still made the charts.

Nope, word of mouth will have the second week even lower. It’s a bad movie, period. It doesn’t resemble anything of the fun, over the top style of the original Buzz.

Plus Evans called everyone an idiot if they didn’t want the lesbian kiss. Heck, it’s another bait and switch by Disney. The main protagonists are the lesbian couple, not Buzz.

It’s going to sink like a stone.
