Some of this stuff just wreaks of more chaos.
Scare the carp out of people, and soften them up to accept
just about anything for protection.

Yes, let’s jump to the aliens conclusion at the start.

They’re probably caused by gas jetting from beneath the surface of the ocean floor. There’s a continuation of gas and oil at the bottom of the ocean to supply us forever.

Those are the tracks of wading birds. With really long legs.
To: bitt
Probably some sort of mollusk.

Probably 9mm bullet holes blowing the earth’s lungs clean out the other side.
To: bitt
Obviously a drain.
So, for when the sea levels rise, these drains can be opened to regulate the change.

Humm. Pretty regular holes. Legs for a recently removed ASW deep sea MAD (Magnetic abnormality array)?
Or still buried and recently used docking device for the same. Need to blow some of the gravel away and see what they find. Maybe just rectangular bobbit worms, or maybe they found the entry lock to the secret deep sea hide out of now grown up Tom Swift! (Who was a different color when I was growing up.)
To: DoughtyOne
Scare the carp out of people, I see what you did there.

Are mollusks or sea snakes found at 1.7 miles of depth?
I was thinking the depth added some to the mystery.
