Eisenhowerite? The only person I would describe that way thought that was a great era because of the tax structure....soak the rich, build interstates. He’s a flaming lib on everything but abortion and the extremes of the LGBTQ+++ agenda, but as I like to remind him, he may not support tthose things, he votes for people that do.
FU, WSJ!
Shame more people didn’t join McCarthy. He was correct. There were communists throughout government. There are even more throughout government now.
They're nostalgic for the days when people actually bought their paper and business was still conducted on Wall Street. Instead, their way of life is ending and Wall Street is a Potamkin village.
Hopefully we'll see people like this author hanging themselves in janitor closets so I can lmao.
Speaking of Joe McCarthy, I’ve recently read a very good biography of the man:
“Joseph McCarthy : reexamining the life and legacy of America’s most hated senator”. A fairly written bio, it goes into detail about Truman’s indifference, and sometimes outright support, of communists and their sympathizers in powerful administrative offices. Something Joe worked hard to push back against.
“They are the nostalgic ones, pining for an America that no longer exists.”
They aren’t the only ones. Same can be said about the demonkkraps. People are pushing back on their lies, cheating, deceit, theft, graft, violence and even killing. They want to return to the good old days (FDR to the sacking of Nixon), world of koom-bang-ya, where they are the good moral guys who all are supposed to follow without question while they commit their offenses against the American people, its cultural heritage and its institutions.
I’m sure some aren’t going to like the characterization of Trump, but I think it is more or less a good article as well. What makes it better than many others is that the tone is something that might work with a lot of anti-Trump types. He’s not putting Trump on a pedestal — just pointing out that Trump being who he is isn’t the real problem.
At the risk of really pissing off some people, the operative word there is "all". And just to point out that there is nothing really wrong with being a bit "rough and crude" anyway. But it's better to acknowledge something like that because it does add credibility to the more important points made in the article.
I loved the Napa Valley area when I went decades ago. It was still getting ramped up. I remember going to Clos du Val, Mumm and Moët. Some restaurant there called Mustard’s was so good. A culinary academy was under construction.
They regard themselves, not without reason, as the last sane Americans.
This isn't an article written to appeal to Trump's base. It is written to appeal to swing voters who have reservations about Trump, and to convince them that the problem isn't Trump and his supporters, but the Left.
That's a worthy goal.
“ I just want the founding principles of the Republic to be followed. Abandon them, and that Republic is dead. Nostalgia has nothing to do with it.”
I believe all that died when they normalized the term ‘democracy’ when referring to our government.
I’m shocked you didn’t toss in a “globohomo”.
In any case, you guys need to wake up. You’re not going to win elections or, more importantly, win the debate over the country’s future if you don’t stop just preaching to the converted. At some point, you have to figure out how to make an argument that will appeal to swing voters, or we are completely screwed.
Eff Annie The Stick.
Very possibly THE greatest disaster in US foreign affairs policy was made by Truman and his administration. It dwarfs Afghanistan to insignificance.
That is the abandonment of Chang Kai Shek and the Chinese nationalists to Mao just as WW2 ended and the USSR started flooding Mao with weapons and supplies (many weapons BTW captured from the Japanese).
China went overnight from a literal sworn ally (we had a mutual assistance pact if I recall) to a mortal enemy. Can you imagine the 50s-60s-70s-80s with a democratic/Republican BILLION strong ally in China?
Many people in his administration that worked with foreign affairs and the China fiasco were pointed at by McCarthy (and high up like Alger Hiss appointed Secretary General of the UN and Harry Hopkins WPA leader, Secretary General and advisor to the POTUS).
You guys?
It may surprise you, but nobody gives AF about what you think they “need” to do.
So you’re not a globo-homo... just enjoy sewing your lips to their asses?
The conservative points are just that, points. Mostly straw men.
