“No one cares about that right now. DeSantis won Florida. Let’s celebrate”

Exactly, he’s a governor and hasn’t announced he wants to do anything different. Leave him be.

Silly.

LOL. perfect. The Puffers are not happy because DeSantis participated in a humanitarian aid drive with Barrett Jackson for Ukraine.

DeSantis appears to be all for the proxy war in Ukraine.... “When Russia invaded Ukraine, Elon Musk positioned his satellites over Ukraine and gave them these things. So they’ve actually been using his devices to be able to defend their country, and I guess some of the people in the (Ukrainian) government were attacking Musk,” DeSantis said Monday.

Did you see what I did there? I put the word "Ukrainian" in his quote, to show he was actually speaking out against the Ukrainian government, not in defense of it. He was defending Musk from the Ukrainian government attacks, not the other way around, so your analysis appears to be backwards based on the true reading of the quote.

CLUB GROWTH! NOT good! Ron never did anything to secure the border in congress but he did kiss Ryan’s butt and introduced legislation to give Puerto Rico statehood.

Do you have anything against DeSantis, you’re able to specifically cite, other than him following the Covid lockdown guidelines that came from the Trump administration?

1. Long experience in watching how our political system works. This is almost an exact repeat of the George W. Bush pre-election period in 1999-2000.

2. The Trump administration never issued COVID "lockdown" guidelines. And they certainly never issued anything that recommended imprisoning people in their homes the way the Florida governor's executive order did, or threatening to imprison people for 60 days for refusing to self-quarantine for 14 days under the terms of the prior executive order (see link below).

Florida begins coronavirus checkpoints, threatens jail time for out-of-state travelers who don't self-quarantine

The details behind Item #2 should disqualify Ron DeSantis from ever holding a position of public trust, in my humble opinion. As far as his political future is concerned, everything you see and hear from me from this point forward is going to be predicated on that non-negotiable premise.

He’s a governor. He doesn’t need to take a stand on any of those topics.

He’s my candidate for Trump’s VP or AG (or maybe to hold both jobs at once)

DeSantis is my choice to be Americas's governor as long as there is a Democrat in the White House.

Competition between the states is what this republic is all about. With a Democrat as president we need DeSantis (and Lake) to set the standard that every other state must compete against.

In Hillsborough County, Florida a Preacher was arrested by the Sheriff for violating the lock down order and holding a Church Service. It is or was on Youtube.com. The Sheriff was proud of arresting the Preacher.

I remember the expertly orchestrated, three-year coronation March of W Bush to the 2000 nomination. I was on board with it because he talked a good conservative game. I was also a lot more naive back then.

Desantis has more of a solid gubernatorial track record than W. He’s obviously brighter too. But as a product of the middle class, he can’t answer to himself, he’ll have minders.

I’m a little confused. So what elected office does Liz Cheney hold? I was under the impression she was rejected by the voters in the primaries, actually I thought it was a landslide.

“ So what elected office does Liz Cheney hold?”

Before they were forced to oust he, the GOP House caucus made her their No 3 top leader. And this, when she was only in her second or third term. Most of them still support her, as she has said to audiences - the GOP establishment tells her quietly what they don’t want the rest of us to hear.

It’s not “ Trumps party”. The party establishment is still United with Bush, the Cheney’s, Ryan, Romney, and the memory of McCain

I want to thank you and a few other freepers for opening my eyes about DeSantis. He’s definitely not the person I initially thought he was. He’s good for Florida, let him stay there.

1. Long experience in watching how our political system works.

This is clearly not related to any specific actions by DeSantis you disagree with, as I requested, but simply more projection. It's an expectation based on your experience, which you know I respect, but it is mere projection.

2. The Trump administration never issued COVID "lockdown" guidelines.

Again, I asked you for anything you believe DeSantis has done wrong other than follow Trump's guidance on lockdowns, which this point fails as well. Regarding your response, I believe it is provably, and factually incorrect. You may be trying to play a game of semantics, but there is no doubt that the White House issued their lockdown guidelines for the US prior to any actions by DeSantis.

Rather than provide you with any links to the countless articles out there covering this, I will refer you to the actual briefing, and the words of Trump himself, these being on March 16, 2020, as recorded on the White House's own website (videos exist as well):

Remarks by President Trump and Members of the Coronavirus Task Force

This afternoon, we’re announcing new guidelines for every American to follow ... The White House Task Force meets every day and continually updates guidelines ... we’ve made the decision to further toughen the guidelines and blunt the infection now. We’d much rather be ahead of the curve than behind it, and that’s what we are. Therefore, my administration is recommending that all Americans, including the young and healthy, work to engage in schooling from home when possible. Avoid gathering in groups of more than 10 people. Avoid discretionary travel. And avoid eating and drinking at bars, restaurants, and public food courts. If everyone makes this change or these critical changes and sacrifices now, we will rally together as one nation and we will defeat the virus.

Ukraine isn't defending their country with Starlink. They are using it to attack the ethnic Russian part of it that has fought for eight years to be free of neo-Nazis and Ukrainian nationalists that we helped bring to power via an illegal coup.

Advising people to take a course of action is not the same thing as issuing an order that has the force of law behind it. The White House announcement clearly refers to "guidelines" -- not lockdowns.

Those of us who were on top of this in 2020 knew what this was all about. The Trump officials involved in the COVID response knew damn well that the U.S. government has no legal authority to impose widespread lockdowns. At best, the President of the United States can lock down military bases and close national parks and Federal buildings. That’s it.

And there was no damned excuse for that travesty of mandating 14-day quarantine periods for people traveling to Florida from other states. What made that even more preposterous was that DeSantis used the shutdown of international flights from China as a justification for it: "If people from China can't fly to Florida, then people from New York shouldn't be permitted to do it, either."

Anyone who can't see the distinction between a Chinese national and a U.S. citizen is a moron at best and a duplicitous totalitarian globalist retard at worst.
