It truly is.
I don’t care. Most future NFL thugs are weak students academically. It’s become a joke.
For this Gator gal, Jimbo Fisher is getting his just desserts. Too bad he’s taking A&M down with him.
Someone sure does!
A friend commented today... “what’s worse - an SMU-like death sentence or what’s happening at A&M? Take your pick - it will be minimum 10 years to recover. An $80M buyout is cheap by comparison.
It’s all about the $$$$.
Who cares about getting a C in basket weaving when your NIL payments are a million bucks a year?
You can dream about taking big time football and bball away from universities, but it won’t happen.
“A decade later, and after paying off Sumlin and throwing nearly a billion dollars into facilities renovations and upgrades, the Aggies”
A BILLION?
You need to move to $^2*$^2*&^2*$^2......
The Aggies need another Junction Boys moment. Too bad Texas Tech is at those hallowed grounds now. LOL
Hey now... Tech fired Collins and the team is doing better. Yes, Richt has built a monster in Athens but I'm hopeful Tech can (1) become competetive again and (2) build from there. Tech Class of 1981
To some people, anything that fails is somehow tied to wokeness. Its kind of like to some people whenever something bad happens to a black person its racism.
Generally speaking, coaches should not be given these massive contracts that cost the institutions so much to get out from under. Jimbo Fisher had the rep and the resume to show he was a winner. But there are many many more candidates at the lower levels who can probably do just as well or even much better.
“Jimbo Fisher hasn’t had his head straight since divorcing his blonde wife”
His oldest son has a Fanconi Anemia that is fatal long term. Been dealing with that for a while now.
Having a chronically Ill child, a wayward wife, and an offensive FSU play calling that my mother in law could predict, I won’t say much more about Fisher after the one championship..
Georgia grad with a GatorOne card, some attitudes are why Spurrier left UF, so i’ll leave it with a Bless Your Heart.
And of course A&M will “Feel a whole lot better when (he’s) gone.” Me, i’m still. Learning to Fly.
😉. Missing my Florida
Given all of the crap going on in the world, thank you for some good down home smack!
It’s deja vu all over again for Aggie. Always has the most and does the least.
There are 500 K “former students” out there. A high percentage of that alumni base cares about Aggie football.
A portion of that has pockets as deep as the oil rigs drilling in the Gulf of Mexico.
TAMU has the 2nd largest endowment of any public university at $18 B.
If Auburn could find around $40 MM for bailout over the past 2 years, I am 100% sure the Aggies can collect the $90 MM.
Yes that type of bailout is obscene but not for one second do I believe Aggieland cannot pay it.
If Jimbo’s #1 recruiting class starts to jump off the ship then TAMU must pay.
There would be no Junction Boys because the boys would be hitting the transfer portal.
One thing not mentioned in the article, aTm has been one of two programs (with miami being the other) to openly and brazenly just buy recruits. Simply outright bought them using NIL money as cover.
When you have a team full of mercenaries who don’t really want to be at your school and who aren’t really committed to it or to the coaches in their hearts, its tough to get them to be really dedicated and make the all out effort needed to win in a tough league like the SEC.
Another aspect is that Jimbo Fisher’s Offense is pretty outdated and generally only works with outstanding QB play - which he is not getting from the young QBs they have there.
aTm is probably going to lean on Fisher to have a shakeup on his assistant coaching staff and they will hope that this fixes things. They will give him 2-3 more years to see if this works. If not, and as financially painful as it will be (probably still about $50-60 million), they will fire him.
They have? fsu is a 3 loss team with a coaching staff that hasn’t cracked the top 20 once in recruiting. Other than the lucky break of catching a still disorganized and lousy LSU team in week 1, they’ve lost to every ranked team they’ve played...and that’s with a Senior QB who is having a very good year. What happens when he’s gone? The future doesn’t look bright at all in Tally.
Spurrier left Florida after a dozen years there because he wanted to try his hand at the NFL. He later admitted leaving Florida was a mistake. It had nothing to do with attitudes of fans. Every fanbase of a major college program is demanding. It comes with the territory of being a coach at one of those schools.
If you don’t believe me try losing at Ohio State, or Oklahoma or Southern Cal, or Auburn, or Georgia or....
LOL- where were the Seminole the past two years??
