It looks much better. I might go for these. I don’t think the animal world cares about wokeness.

I got a subscription to a magazine called Your Big Backyard when my daughter was that age.

It wasn’t woke, but who knows what it is like now.

Then there’s Ranger Rick Jr.

Yes, at least the animals haven’t gone woke. I was afraid the magazines might have gone woke since I last looked, and checked out a few sample copies and could not find anything, not even any dreaded Climate Change stuff.

I liked the way they honored the parents’ primary role in guiding their children, too, and stress that. In the Cub issue, they show Tilly the Tiger with her mother, showing the size difference and say Tilly will grow up to be as large as her mother, but in the meantime her mother keeps her safe. And there’s a parent guide for every issue so parents can share more fun facts about the featured animals with their child and so forth and be the smart teacher. I was glad to see that.

What about the Harry Potter books? I don’t know.

A favorite LGBT talking point is, "Hate is not a family value."

Refusing to cater to mental illness is not hate and sodomy is the antithesis of a family value.

She’s not old enough for Harry Potter yet. (3 going on 4)

Gallant was always a phag.

Shaming kids like that was conditioning to raise generations of simps.

Gotcha. I’m just wondering about those books. I know kids that are devouring those books.

Will Goofus be a “homophobe,” and Gallant woke?

I'm going to recommend the Concordia Publishing House, part of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, the conservative, Bible-believing branch of Lutheranism in the U.S. Concordia's Books for Children section of its web site has 15 pages of materials to scroll through; all the materials will be in accord with the basics of traditional, family-centered Christian belief. Our Sunday school uses Concordia materials.

I collect such books as well. Mine include history, mathematics, physics, chemistry, woodworking, metalworking, and gunsmithing. Of course, I also have gardening an the original Foxfire series. Heck, I even have texts which describe making electron tubes and associated circuitry.

Don’t know about currently, but it was leaning that way when my children were in grade school in the 70’s and 80’s.

Well, just check the Goofus and Gallant section:

Goofus: swaggering bad boy takes the ladies home on weekends.
Gallant: occasionally takes another guy or a transgender “lady” home for variety and compassion’s sake.

If it’s something like that, then Highlights has gone woke.

It would be better to just get your kids a bb gun and practice target shooting.
They will more likely need to hone that skill in particular in the future.

I’d like to thank everyone for their responses. I am going to try that Ranger Rick magazine and make a stop at a local used book store for some pre-woke fairy tales.

I did not want to buy Highlights and find the coloring section with something like “color in Janes penis, and Joes breasts.” I don’t want to encourage something that should be my daughters responsibility to handle in her own way. I just wanted something fun for a young girl.

Thanks again!

When I was very young my parents read the A. A. Milne Pooh stories and poems to me, but that was a very long time ago.

One day these books, and the knowledge that they contain, will be priceless.
