Can you rent a gun at the city limits?

Not right "at" the city limits, but it is a small town.

Guns are readily available to rent. You have to show some proficiency level. With revolvers, I think you have to show membership in a club, or in competition, or some such.

Most people carry rifles or shotguns (with slugs) but there are a minority who carry revolvers.

There are a ton of cases of 9mms stopping bear attacks, including grizzlies.

It didn’t kill the bear - and a 44 magnum has a poor chance of killing a bear too!

The bear was mortally wounded, and was finished off by the authorities a few hours later.

Still, the bear traveled about a mile and a half before it went down.

My best guess is the shooter only got one lung, because the bear was facing him.

My colleagues and I have documented seven cases where only 9x19 mm pistols were used. They were all successful.

There are several other cases where the 9mm was used in combination with other calibers, or long guns.

As often the case, HAVING A GUN is the #1 priority. If you can make it a big gun, even better. I’ve got a Model 29 but my hands are too small to shoot it well. My 686+ is probably a better bet in my midget hands.

A friend worked for the Forest Service in Alaska many years ago. He was required to carry a 375 H&H Magnum with him and had to qualify by shooting at a pie plate from the hip at 20 feet. That’s actually closer to what I’d WANT with me in country with big bears! Maybe even kind of small....

How about the polar bear attacks in the cities, like NYC, Chicago, etc. A revolver would work there too.

If the victim is aware enough to get the revolver out and get a shot or shots off...

Porridge works very well, especially if you add considerable sugar...

There have been some nasty bear attacks in Arizona. Here is one from Tucson. Stopped with a .44 magnum.

NO, it wouldn’t be a hoot.

Arizona has black bears and with a black bear you would be lucky if you were dead before it started eating you.

I have black bears out the wazoo up here, one just tore the side out of my chicken house (1x6 walls screwed to 2x4 framing 16 inches on center, 4 feet above ground), killed 9 of my hens, 2 of my roosters and threw 100 pound feed sacks around like confetti.
He tore a 5x6 foot hole out of the side of the building.

Set up the lights and shot that SOB 3 times with a 308 the following night, turned him into dog food and buried the rest with the backhoe.

Trust me, you don’t want to meet ANY BEAR on their terms.

THEY WILL KILL YOU AND EAT YOU!
