I’ve actually had pretty good luck with a variety of items on eBay, BUT, I research the sellers pretty thoroughly, and in most cases establish some back and forth communication B4 bidding or buying. Good back and forth seems almost always indicative of a good seller and item. For example, one seller a couple months ago had a small part I wanted, listed at a good (but not great) price. The shipping though, was rather high for such an item. So I quite politely asked if they could ship by “Economy Shipping” (time from FL was NOT of the essence, so to speak). I got back a “no” and (essentially) “who are you to ask” reply.
The “no” I didn’t mind (can always look elsewhere for a better total cost), but the attitude was a BAD sign, in my book. Another seller for the blacklist - Hahaha.
I similarly avoid sellers who simply don’t respond to inquiries.
There is (on the HP) never any display at all, even if I try to escape to BIOS when booting. Ditto if I connect an external monitor.
I just wait for a good combination of discount code and features. I’ve been using https://www.dellrefurbished.com
I do have a 5490 and 6440. The 6440 has an upgraded video card and hdmi.
