Sorry, meant Laurie Partridge as my ideal mother. I had actress Susan Dey, who played her, conflated with character Laurie Partridge in my post.

Back in the early 1970s, Laurie (Susan Dey) was perhaps the most beautiful woman on the planet and the perfect mother for a young boy to have.

Ten years later, I would have wanted to marry the woman. But by then, it was too late. She had already married some guy named Lenny.

Can you imagine being a 8 or 9 year old boy and having this beautiful woman as your mom packing your lunchbox?

I hope my actual mom doesn't read this.

Susan Dey was so incredibly beautiful. Very Rare. And for the Gals there was David Cassidy.

They both stand out in this video of the song

“I’ll meet you halfway”

Fond memories of both those shows<

I always felt sorry for Jan(Eve Plumb), but she became such a bitter bitch in real life, that Wendy Williams, had to kick off her show

Apparently Susan and David did date, but apparently David wasn’t interested in her.

Must be nice to think you could get better girls than Susan Dey, LOL.

Hahaha!

What would your parents have said if the bus did come to collect you?

“Fine, boy, go! Don’t worry about school, we’ll cover for you. Don’t forget to write!”

I was pretty much a similar dumb kid.

A lot to that story about their relationship.

There may have been one Girl that was pretty close:

Did you know The Partridge Family was based on The Cowsill’s? Barry Cowsill died in Katrina. They were a very troubled family. I met them all once after a concert. Their dad was a jerk!

Sherwood Schwartz versus Bernard Slade.

I wonder if they hated each other.

Something I didn't know about back then: Partridge Family 2200 A.D. (also called The Partridge Family in Outer Space) was a Saturday morning cartoon after the original series was cancelled.

I preferred Leave it to Beaver. I bet it’s lots older though.

Yes, I know that story very well. The Cowsills were the logical band for the show as they had the musical chops but were not deemed telegenic enough (and too old) by the TV execs so it was decided to manufacture a family for TV.

The musicians behind the Partridge Family were top notch, with members from the Wrecking Crew. I believe only Shirley Jones and David Cassidy actually appeared on the recordings.

The music created for the Partridge Family was inspired by the "Sunshine Pop" sub genre which was popular during roughly the 1966-1972 period, epitomized by artists like Mamas & Papas, The Turtles, Young Rascals and the Poppy Family (Terry and Susan Jacks).
