I bet she was breaking up with him and he didn’t take rejection well.

I'd guess that that's a good guess.

Solved murders trend toward the perp being known to the victim in some way. Unsolved murders probably trend toward strangers which is why they remain unsolved, but obviously they skew the statistics because the dataset is incomplete.

“The victim looks like she may be black, but also could be part black and part Asian.”

She’s definitely at least part Asian. Duan is a Vietnamese name, and she has Asiatic eyes. But she is substantially darker and has a bigger nose than most Vietnamese I’ve ever met. She could indeed be part black (fair number of Vietnam-war era black offspring in ‘Nam) or perhaps have some dark Filipino lineage.

Yes, exactly. I was clued in to this deception by a wise old professor (the kind doesn't exist anymore!) in a statistics/research methods class. His grievance at the time were papers where child abusers were lumped in with people who spank their children to advance the “spanking is child abuse” narrative.

Whatever happened to the good old days when you met people in a nightclub?

police started pulling people over as they left the club parking lots and giving breathalyzer tests ...

If they cheat in the months before marrying don’t expect things to be different in the marriage. It wasn’t.

My girlfriend recently responded to a Facebook question, what would you change about your wedding day, she replied “The Groom”, for the very reason you indicate, she expected him to change his ways.

Does anyone else feel we are purposely being desensitized to constant death?

I disagree.

It’s not the badness that attracts them.

It’s the self-confidence and self-assurance they exude that is really the result of arrogance but is misinterpreted by the women. Women are attracted to strong men and these vermin come across as strong.

However,

Vanityfair: On the opposite side of that spectrum, people are cooped up, they’re a little stir crazy. If you’re swiping on a dating app like Tinder, or Bumble, or Grindr, and you match with someone...
Dr. Anthony Fauci: If you’re willing to take a risk—and you know, everybody has their own tolerance for risks—you could figure out if you want to meet somebody. And it depends on the level of the interaction that you want to have. If you’re looking for a friend, sit in a room and put a mask on, and you know, chat a bit. If you want to go a little bit more intimate, well, then that’s your choice regarding a risk. The one thing you don’t want to do is make sure the person is feeling well. Even though there’s a lot of asymptomatic infections, that’s one of the things that’s really troublesome. . - https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2020/04/anthony-fauci-on-new-rules-of-living-with-coronavirus

That is still one of the most surreal segments from Fauci during the entire pandemic and there are a lot of them.

Wear a mask during your hook-up!

Absolutely surreal. Your small restaurant is closed down for patio dining but *whatever hook-up app on your phone* is open for business!

Or maybe school, or the grocery store, or just out and about? Strange times when someone one has been “dating” for a week is considered a “boyfriend”…

It is Texas. Why wasn’t she packing?

Everyone should be either armed of able to fake it.

Absolutely surreal. Your small restaurant is closed down for patio dining but *whatever hook-up app on your phone* is open for business!

"If you’re willing to take a risk—and you know, everybody has their own tolerance for risks..."

Indeed:

Negative effects of homosexual relations (and heterosexual fornication)

Although only approximately 7% of adult and adolescent males reported having had male-to-male sexual contact at some point in their lives, 82% of HIV infections among males in 2018 were attributed to male-to-male sexual contact. (CDC: Estimated HIV Incidence and Prevalence in the
United States, 2015–2019P. 7)

92% of HIV infections among men aged 13 to 24 was attributed to male-to-male sexual contact, and young gay and bisexual men accounted for 83% (6,385) of all new HIV diagnoses in people aged 13 to 24 in 2019, and 81% of diagnoses of HIV infection among all Adolescents and Young Adults.

In addition to which is the financial cost which has been going for decades:

The United States is expected to spend more than $26 billion annually on HIV. (https://www.healthline.com/health/hiv-aids/facts-statistics-infographic)

CDC estimates indicate about 20 percent of the U.S. population – approximately one in five people in the U.S. – had an STI on any given day in 2018, and STIs acquired that year will cost the American healthcare system nearly $16 billion in healthcare costs alone. (https://www.cdc.gov/std/statistics/prevalence-2020-at-a-glance.htm)
