The charter captains we have gone with out of Venice, Louisiana hook the fish with the rod in the well, and then hand it off to the client, who fights the fish standing up. Fifteen minutes to half an hour is about average in my experience. Not the biggest tuna out there, but more than enough fight for some late middle-aged businessmen. Yeah, I’ve lost some to sharks. Tuna, not businessmen.

“...the client, who fights the fish standing up”.

Like a man. Biggest fish I ever landed was a 50# cod at Coxes Ledge off Montauk Point. They don’t really put up that much of a fight though. One day I’ve got to try for a tuna.

I cannot stress ENOUGH how important it is for EVERY fisherman to CARRY A SHARP KNIFE WITH AT LEAST A 2" BLADE for CUTTING A LINE in an emergency situation.

NO fisherman is going to break 20, 30, 40, 50 or higher LB test with his hands (ESPECIALLY if the line is taught) if his hands or arm get somehow wrapped around a line with a large fish taking him down into the water.

If I ever see a fisherman go into the water who is somehow wrapped around a line, I AM PULLING MY KNIFE AND GOING IN AFTER HIM. There is no way I watch a tuna, huge catfish or any other fish take a man to his death...

CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH, CARRY A SHARP KNIFE ON YOUR PERSON AT ALL TIMES WHEN FISHING because WEIRD THINGS CAN HAPPEN.

My Bro in law caught a huge yellow fin brought it to N.Y. and within hours it was on it’s way to Japan, not sure the wt. of the fish but he got 5,000 + for it.

Thank you. Never seen the album cover before. The joke is appreciated on another level now.

Maybe not. But something's fishy.

Working dockside to scoop up these fish is generally a lot more pleasant job for a Japanese Trading Company employee than being stuck in a high rise office building in some $#*+hole big city pushing paper.
