I went to Safeway yesterday, and looking at the Donuts, they were $1.19 a piece. $10.99 a dozen. I remember them being a dime a dozen, and they gave you 13 donuts. In 1972 or so, we used to carouse at night, and the best donut shop in town opened up at 3am. We would go get a dozen donuts hot out of the oven, hand them a $20 bill, which they couldn’t cash yet, so they were free.
Tell me about inflation? In 1974 I was an apprentice carpenter in the Union, my rent was $130 a month for a place with a pool and community center, pinballs and pool table. I was bringing home $250 a week. My last job was for the State of WA, I bring home about $1,200 a week, and rent is $1,200 a month, if I had to live in a similar place as that one.
A house when I was starting out was about $23,000, similar homes now are going for $500,000.
Things are not better, the value of the dollar is in the toilet.
My son moved to the Fitchburg/Leominster border the beginning of this year. Right on the north side of Rt 2.
Prior to that he lived in an apartment above someones garage in Groton, MA for a little over a year.
He got really spoiled though when he first graduated from UNH. He lived 1/4 mile from the ocean at Jenness Beach in Rye, NH for 1 1/2 years.
He moved to Groton when he changed jobs two Octobers ago.
Did you get much snow out of this last storm.
We had nothing a week ago. Now, about a 1 1/2’. With another storm coming in later today.
They closed the schools early today. I guess we are getting 7 inches.
Don’t want the kiddies melting by being touched with precipitation.
Right? With my paid off house, I figure I’m paying about $400 a month in “rent” for taxes and insurance...I’m hoarding the rest of my paycheck for retirement in 10 years.
“You guys have NOTHING to bitch about. Hunter Biden’s rent payment was 150% of his monthly income...”
The only flaw in your argument is Hunter Biden isn’t paying for anything...the Chinese deposited &49K+ a month in his account to cover those expenses to his daddy.
