Did she say that to LBJ?Exactly, didn't Nixon end it? Sheesh, these Canadians should focus on their own problems.

So basically she was a no talent that had her 15 minutes of fame and faded away quickly. Yep, her only notoriety and contribution was to be an attention getter for being rude. Me me me

I also remember when Eartha Kitt insulted Lady Bird Johnson to her face.Lady Bird deserved it. The Johnsons were evil people.

Did the IRS audit her like they did to the guy who said something to Slick Willy that he didn’t like?

Truman sent advisors to Vietnam in 1950, “By 1952, the
U.S. would bear roughly one-third of the cost of the war the French were fighting”
JFK sent 16,000 troops.

Never should have let the French have any of their colonies back after the war.

My experience on visits to Canada is that Canadians like to pontificate about American politics. They are so much better than Americans, after all.

Kennedy sent no ground troops whatsoever. There were some pilots, which is what the friend of the family was, to provide air support for South Vietnam solders, and to spray Agent Orange on the jungle foliage and usage of napalm. Meanwhile, under his watch, the number of military advisers rose to about 16,000, some of whom began engaging in clandestine combat operations. (I did state that he increased the number of advisors, but those advisors were not officially engaging as combatants.)
Truman approved a $23 million aid program to the French in Vietnam—meaning the United States was no longer neutral. Additionally, he sent over transport planes and jeeps, along with 35 military advisers, as part of a multimillion-dollar aid package.

Nixon should have told her that communists are property of the state, not people

She apparently had no concern for the thousands of South Vietnamese civilians murdered during Tet by the North. Nor any concern now for Ukraine’s destruction by the Russian invaders. Just another Maoist craving attention.

!6,000 troops is a massive number of troops, and after 13 years of only having advisors that kind of escalation can’t be ignored, yet the left does ignore it, and skips right past it to JFK’s vice-president.
To me, this is related to the media coverage of making JFK one of the major heroes of WWII and creating the impression he was the great war hero of the 4 men of the two party tickets of 1960.

Problem is, what do you do when those advisors start getting killed?

"Kennedy sent no ground troops whatsoever."
I had a friend (RA) in a PsyWar outfit in Korea 1957-8. I met him later in NYC in the early 1960s (JFK was still President). He told me after Korea he was transferred to Vietnam because he spoke French. He said there was a large tiger spooking his unit in the jungle, so they set up a grenade wrapped in meat and blew its head off.

Part of the deal with advisors is that they are at risk and without full protection.
We accept advisor deaths without going to war and we did in Vietnam, some died over the many years before 1963.
You probably catch an occasional death of advisors and special ops GIs in the news, for instance in Africa where we have some combat and some deaths.

The media was biased then too. They turned the derelict blunderer of PT-109 into a fake hero.

Nixon was a respected Lt.Commander in the Pacific, and his running mate was a true war hero with extensive combat as an officer in multiple theaters and capturing a German patrol single-handedly.
Lyndon Johnson had been awarded a Silver Star, and no one can name which medal for combat heroism JFK was awarded, even guys who pay attention to military matters can’t quite come up with which medal it was.

How Kennedy managed to get his PT boat rammed by a destroyer is still a mystery. The rumor is they were sleeping and Joe Kennedy used his pull to have it covered up.
