A) It's very rare for a film worth watching is released today
B) On the rare occasion it does happen more and more Americans can buy the bluray disk (or 4K disc) on ebay for $15 and then watch it on their 4K TV knowing that their fridge and bathroom are steps away.
Who would want to go to a movie theater today?

It’s the rudeness of people that keep me out of movie theater these days.

I just bought the Maverick 4K disc recently...but haven’t gotten around to watching it yet.
To: SamAdams76
Yup,that too. My main reasons are 1) a nice 4K TV and player and 2) sound. The fridge and bathroom being handy are also factors.
Ooops...forgot to mention sticky floors thanks to spilled Pepsi.

Good. Crap movies for twenty years.
Die already. Civil society as far as social gatherings dead too.

Emphasize diversity, LGBTQ, woke philosophy of insulting white people for being supremacists and showing films promoting the socialist future and the theaters will have lines around the block waiting for the doors to open./SYou know what film had none of this stuff?
"Cocaine Bear"
And it's bringing in solid numbers, better than anticipated.

I can’t even remember the last time I considered going to see a movie...

Imagine a business that has lower year to year revenues during a period of high inflation.
That is very difficult to do!

I want to see the cocaine bear movie... almost actually went to a theater to see it.
Theaters will be the next block buster soon.

The last one I saw was They Shall Not Grow Old. A documentary that came out late in 2018. That was the first one I went to in over a decade before that.

Tickets cost too much for along time.
Awful material.
Travel through hostile territory to get there.
Sure you can find more reasons

I hear that. The last time I went to a movie, The Black Phone, there was a lady up front who had to give a loud commentary throughout the movie.
You can only hear so many yells of “Yes, baby!,” “That’s right!, “Watch out!,” “Don’t do it!,” “Ahhhhh!” along with full commentary and claps throughout that made me want to absolutely go off on her.
I was in the last row and was losing my mind - totally rude behavior in a public setting.
