Reminds me of a similar story of a “liberated” mother that decided to raise up her son with “sensible” eating habits that didn’t include sugar and sweets. After several years of this, giving her child carrot sticks instead of cookies and all that, she finally allowed her child to attend a friend’s birthday party.

All of that “sensible” programming was wiped away with the first bite of chocolate cake, and she got a dirty look from him of “YOU’VE BEEN DEPRIVING ME”.

The focus shouldn’t be on toy guns, it should be on the video games.

Blaming video games is like blaming guns. Millions play video games and are just fine.

A former friend of mine did not want her son playing with guns...she said he would eat his sandwiches into guns (shape)...in other words it was impossible to stop...he turned out fine

Every family is different. Every child is unique. No slam here.

One could argue that today there’s an argument to be made here in favor.Namely...if a cop sees a 10 year old with anything resembling a real gun he could get shot.

My father also did not allow toy guns. We got BB guns and had to take NRA firearms training in 3rd or 4th grade. We were taken hunting often and had to obey strict rules at handling the BB guns. I think around 5th grade we got .22s and single-shot shotguns.

Yes, we did cheat and use toy guns occasionally with friends.
