Maybe those elements are what makes spices spicy.
Everything in Kalifornia must have a toxic ingredient warning, even hammers. I suspect someone did a spectroscopic analysis of spices and found those elements. They have been there all along and in harmless quantities.
Plants pick up what is in the soil.
Everything must have the Prop. 65 label unless the manufacturer can prove that the product does NOT contain substances known to the State of California etc. Such proof is expensive to obtain, and not worth the trouble. Everybody ignores (or laughs at) the Prop 65 label.
Yes, it sounds like "guilty until proven innocent" because that's exactly what it is.

Friends of ours have a small business selling soup. Some lawyer contacted them saying that had elevated levels of “X” in their soup and he was suing them under California laws.
A quick internet search by the owner discovered that those rules only apply to companies with more than 15 people or whatever, so the scam lawyer got a letter from a lawyer friend of the soup business saying to cease and desist or they would countersue for defamation or something.
“Oh - sorry! I didn’t realize you’re a small company!”
Turns out the scam lawyer buys all sorts of food and runs some quick tests on them, and then sues the companies. Based in California so the rules are much stricter, but was still a huge market for this small soup company. In every other state the soup meets the guidelines.
Once you start with fresh herbs, you’ll never go back to the dried version except for in a pinch. Using fresh is addictive, I think.

Yes, but I have a problem believing in “the science” these days. They just want us to quit everything.
It was a nice day. I got my potato buckets set up and fertilized and bone mealed. They are ready for the potatoes to go in as soon as they are cured and sprouting well.
I also set up the bucket s for carrots. I use plastic hardware store kinds of buckets with the bottoms cut out and fill them with a mixture of peat moss and sand. Then I sowed the seeds just a bit ago as it’s supposed to be mild and rainy for most of the week.
I got some huge carrots that way last year.

Not a single actual quantitative value in the article or table. What is “of concern”? The actual set daily exposure limit? 1/2 that? 100X lower than that? That is a frequent tactic of “Public Interest Research Groups” (PIRGs) too, no hard numbers but “concern”.
I’m all for not eating metabolically challenging quantities of compounds that aren’t utilized by human physiology in amounts above pico and nano grams/Kg. And remember, BEER chelates heavy metals :-)
